NEW GEORGIAN PREMIER HELD HIS FIRST OFFICIAL MEETING WITH ACTING ASSISTANT US SECRETARY OF STATE

Giorgi Gakharia, appointed recently as Premier Minister of Georgia, held his first official meeting in the new rank with the Acting Assistant US Secretary of State Philip Reeker, press service of the Premier reported. As the press service noted, at the meeting, Gakharia emphasized main directions of the US-Georgia relations, including strengthening of cooperation in spheres of security and economy.

ECONOMY MINISTRY: GEORGIA STARTS NEGOTIATIONS ON DIRECT AIR COMMUNICATION WITH THE US

Georgian ‘s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that the Minister Natia Turnava has left for the US, where she will hold negotiations with 2 American companies concerning launch of direct flights. Namely, the Minister will negotiate with Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.

ECONOMY MINISTER: THANKS TO UPDATED INVESTMENT POLICY, PREPARATION OF ATTRACTIVE INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO BECAME POSSIBLE

Thanks to updated investment policy, preparation of “very attractive investment portfolio” became possible in 2019, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared. The matter concerns investments of about 3.5 billion lari in power industry, manufacturing, agriculture, etc., she specified.

IN OCTOBER, TBILISI TO HOST INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS CONFERENCE

Office of Georgian business ombudsman announced that international business conference “Creation of Encouraging Environment for Sustained Business in Eastern Europe and Central Asia” will be held in Tbilisi on October 11. As the office noted, the event is organized by them and non-governmental Civil Development Agency (CiDA) with financial support of Swedish government.

WITH ASSISTANCE OF SWEDEN, NEW ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT TO BE IMPLEMENTED

Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported about 4-year (2019-2023) project, named “Let’s Protect Cleanness of Georgia”, which will be implemented with assistance of the government of Sweden. Ulrik Tidestrom, Swedish ambassador in Georgia, indicated that main objective of the project is reduction of emission of hothouse gases and environmental pollution in Georgia by 2023, assistance to sustainable environmental education and circular economy (waste-free economy).

“WIZZ AIR” ADDS 7 NEW DIRECTIONS STEP BY STEP

Georgian Airports Association reported that Hungarian low-coster Wizz Air started gradual launch of flights in 7 new directions. The flights from Kutaisi will be made to Basel, Copenhagen, Brussels, Tallinn, Eindhoven, Bari and Poznan.

REGULATING COMMISSION: FROM 2013 THROUGH JULY 30, 2019, OVER 16M LARI WERE WRITTEN OFF FROM CITIZENS

Decisions, made by Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission, resulted in write-off from citizens of 16 million lari from 2013 through July 30, 2019. In turn, compensation, paid to citizens by commission because of violation of quality standards, developed by the Commission, exceeded 5 million lari.

LAND PLOT IN ALEKSEEVKA SETTLEMENT OF TBILISI IS ON SALE FOR 1.6M LARI

Georgian National Agency of State Property put on electronic auction the land plot, located in Kvemo Alekseevka settlement of Tbilisi. The site of nonagricultural land of 82,888 square m with structures is estimated at 1.6 million lari.
