1. IN 2018, GEORGIA RECEIVED $35M WITHIN THE US FOREIGN MILITARY FINANCING
Politics

In 2018, Georgia received $35 million within the US Foreign Military Financing (FMF), report on execution of Georgia’s government program for 2018-2020 says.

According to the report, the allocated funds are fully consumed by exercise and equipment programs and capacity raising of armed forces.

2. MPS AND EXPERTS DISCUSSED RENEWED LEGISLATION ON STATE PROCUREMENTS
Politics

Today, the working meeting was held by initiative of the Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy, at which renewed legislation on state procurements was discussed.

Chairman of the Committee Roman Kakulia noted that the respective draft bill should be submitted to the Parliament in near future.

3. AT LICENSING AND CONSTRUCTION STAGE, THERE ARE 52 PROJECTS OF POWER PLANTS WORTH $2.7B
Economics

At the moment, at the stage of licensing and construction, there are 52 projects of power plants with estimated installed capacity totals to 1,562 MW, report on execution of Georgia’s government program for 2018-2020 says.

As the report indicates, estimated investment cost of these projects reaches $2.7 billion.

4. DEPUTY FINANCE MINISTER: WITHIN ACTIONS ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENT, 25 OBJECTS ARE SELECTED
Economics

Georgia’s Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze reported that within the actions on energy efficiency improvement, 25 objects were selected, being proposed by municipalities. “The majority is educational institutions”, he noted.

5. GEORGIAN SEAMEN TO WORK LEGALLY ON VESSELS OF GERMANY AND CROATIA
Economics

Georgian seamen will be able to work legally on vessels of Germany and Croatia, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared.

For that end, memorandums on recognition of seamen certificates were signed with Germany and Croatia today in Batumi.

6. ECONOMY MINISTER: MARITIME FORUM GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT HOW TO TURN GEORGIA INTO INTERNATIONAL LOGISTIC HUB
Economics

Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kobulia declared that maritime forum provides an opportunity “to talk about how to turn Georgia into logistic hub and how to encourage business and investors”.

On September 12-14, Batumi hosts International Maritime Forum, which is attended by up to 400 delegates from 53 countries.

7. 21 CZECH COMPANIES PARTICIPATED IN THE GEORGIAN-CZECH BUSINESS FORUM

Today, Tbilisi hosted Georgian-Czech business forum, part in which was taken by 21 Czech companies. As Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported, infrastructure, logistics, medical tourism, mechanical engineering were presented at the forum.

8. “ELMAVALMSHENEBELI” COOPERATES WITH CZECH “SCODA ELECTRIC” IN PROJECT OF CREATION OF NEW MODEL OF THE CARGO ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE
Business

Georgian JSC Elmavalmshenebeli (Electric Locomotive Builder) and Czech Scoda Electric jointly implement the project on creation of new model of cargo electric locomotive. The matter concerns 8E1A, two-section electric locomotive with 9 axis and asynchronous engine.

9. POSSIBILITIES OF COOPERATION IN BERRY CROPS’ CULTIVATION IN GEORGIA ARE DISCUSSED WITH CYPRUS COMPANY
Business

Possibilities of cooperation in cultivation of berry crops in Georgia are discussed with the Cyprus-registered company K.Hamboullas&Son Ltd, Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculutre declared. The Ministry hosted a meeting with management of the company today.

10. WORKS WITHIN THE PROJECT OF NATIONAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM FINISHED IN MTSKHETA-MTIANETI
Economics

Georgian National Agency of Public Register reported that works on description of settlements in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region are finished, being conducted within the project of development of national navigation system.

According to the Agency, description of 3,241 objects, 8,833 buildings, 713 km of roads, etc.
