1. GEORGIAN PREMIER DISCUSSED ISSUES OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION WITH FOREIGN MINISTERS OF POLAND AND SWEDEN

Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili held a meeting in Tbilisi with Foreign Ministers of Poland and Sweden – Witold Waszczykowski and Margot Wallstrom.

As administration of Georgian government said, “the progress, made by Georgia on the way of European integration, was emphasized” at the meeting.

2. ASSOCIATION OF YOUNG FINANCIERS AND BUSINESSMEN: SHORT-TERM DEVALUATION OF LARI CANNOT BE ATTRIBUTED TO FUNDAMENTAL FACTORS
Economics

Vice-president of Young Financiers and Businessmen Association Paata Bairakhtari declared that “all those macroeconomic parameters, which influence stability of lari, maintain stable growth”. “Respectively, we cannot attribute short-term depreciation of national currency to fundamental factors”, he pointed.

3. “SOCIETY AND BANKS”: DAMAGE, INFLICTED BY FINANCIAL PYRAMIDS DURING THE LAST YEAR, REACHED 100M LARI
Economics

Non-governmental organization Society and Banks declared that damage, inflicted by financial pyramids during the last year, has reached 100 million lari. Number of affected people makes up 4,000, the organization specified.

4. ACTING FINANCE MINISTER: ALL REFORMS, ENVISAGED BY 4-POINT PLAN OF THE GOVERNMENT, WILL PROCEED IN THE MINISTRY
Politics

Today, Mamuka Bakhtadze held the first working meeting in the rank of acting Finance Minister in the Ministry.

As Bakhtadze declared, all reforms, envisaged by 4-point plan of the government, will proceed in the Ministry.

5. NON-GOVERNMENTAL BRANCH ORGANIZATIONS WELCOME STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN THE GOVERNMENT

“We positively estimate project of structural changes, announced by the government, as a result of which merger of several ministries is planned”, statement released by non-governmental branch organizations says.

“Start and correct implementation of the mentioned changes will promote saving of bureaucratic expenses and growth of efficiency of the government”, the organizations consider.

6. CHAIRMAN OF THE PARLIAMENT’S HEALTHCARE COMMITTEE: UNLIKE LAST YEAR, THERE IS NO MORE OVEREXPENDITURE IN UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE PROGRAM

Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee for Healthcare and Social Issues Akaki Zoidze stated: “The tendency is kept in absence of overexpenditure in universal healthcare program, unlike last year”. “Effective steps of the Ministry [of Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection] caused establishment of fiscal order”, he said.

7. TOURISM ADMINISTRATION CONTINUES COOPERATION WITH “GOOGLE”

Georgian National Tourism Administration reported that meeting was held with representatives of Google Corporation, at which ongoing cooperation and future plans were discussed. The administration cooperates with Google for 2 years already.

8. IN Q2, PORTFOLIO INVESTMENTS MADE UP $30M
Economics

National Bank of Georgia reported that portfolio investments in Georgia amounted in the 2nd quarter to $30 million. In regard of GDP, this indicator makes up 0.8%.

9. AS OF SEPTEMBER, PRICE PER SHARE OF “BOG HOLDINGS” MADE UP 33.2 GBP, OF “TBC BANK GROUP” – 16.3 GBP
Business

Referring to Bloomberg, National Bank of Georgia reported that as of September, price per share of BOG Holdings at the London Stock Exchange made up 33.2 GBP, while of TBC Bank Group – 16.3 GBP.

To compare, these prices in January made up respective 28.5 GBP and 14.6 GBP.

10. REGULATING COMMISSION GAVE PRELIMINARY CONSENT TO ACQUISITION OF OPERATIONAL ASSET OF “GLOBAL CONTACT CONSULTING” BY “SILKNET”
Business

National Communication Commission reported that JSC SilkNet plans acquisition of operational asset of JSC Global Contact Consulting, informing on this intent the Commission.

The operational asset consists of 2 licenses for radio-frequency range use, coaxial cables, antennas and their parts, the Commission specified.
