1. IN JUNE, INDUSTRIAL PPI INCREASED BY 15.7% Y-O-Y
Economics

Sakstat reported that in June, Georgian producer price index (PPI) of industrial production has increased by 15.7% year-on-year. If compared with the previous month (May), PPI has decreased by 1.1%.

2. IN JUNE, GEORGIA’S EXPORT PRICE INDEX INCREASED BY 10% Y-O-Y, IMPORT PRICE INDEX – BY 26.4%

Sakstat reported that Georgia’s export price index increased in June by 10% year-on-year. If compared with the previous month (May), the volume has reduced by 2.9%.

3. IN H1, SHARE OF 10 LARGEST PARTNERS IN GEORGIA’S TRADE TURNOVER MADE UP 70.4%
Economics

Sakstat reported that in Georgia’s trade turnover for 6 months of this year ($6.2 billion), share of 10 largest trade partners made up 70.4%. In the same period of 2020, this share made up 69.9% (respectively, has increased by 0.5 percentage points this year).

4. GEORGIA PLANS TO AGREE NEW PROGRAM WITH IMF BY END OF THE YEAR
Economics

Georgia’s Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili declared that negotiations with IMF are underway regarding main directions of the new program. We think that we will agree on a new program at the end of the year, he said.

5. IN Q2, PROFIT OF GEORGIAN BANKS INCREASED 2.4 TIMES Y-O-Y

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that net profit of 15 Georgian commercial banks totaled in the 2nd quarter to 647.8 million lari. The volume has increased by 57.3% quarter-on-quarter and 2.4 times year-on-year.

6. NBG: INTERBANK MARKET TRANSACTIONS, CONDUCTED IN NATIONAL CURRENCY IN 2020, MADE UP 71.2% OF THE INDICATOR OF 2019

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that volume of transactions, conducted in national currency on the interbank market in 2020, totaled to 20.1 billion lari. This volume corresponds to 71.2% of the indicator of 2019, NBG pointed.

7. AS OF JUNE 30, NUMBER OF DEBIT CARDS IN GEORGIA DECREASED BY 2.5% Q-O-Q AND BY 0.6% Y-O-Y
Economics

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of June 30, there were 6.16 million debit cards in circulation in the country. This number decreased by 2.5%, if compared with the end of December 2020, and by 0.6%, if compared with the end of June 2020.

8. AS OF JUNE 30, NUMBER OF CREDIT CARDS IN GEORGIA DECREASED BY 1.8% Q-O-Q, BUT INCREASED BY 0.9% Y-O-Y
Economics

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that as of June 30, there were 551,719 credit cards in circulation in the country. This number has decreased by 1.8%, if compared with the end of December 2020, and increased by 0.9%, if compared with the end of June 2020.
