1. IN GEORGIA, STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED UNTIL APRIL 21
Politics

In Georgia, state of emergency is declared for 1 month, through April 21. As Georgian government explained, the country is passing to a stage of coronavirus domestic spread that demands additional and extraordinary measures.

2. BECAUSE OF HIGH EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RISK, STRICT QUARANTINE MEASURES IMPOSED IN MARNEULI AND BOLNISI
Politics

Because of high epidemiological risk, Georgian government decided to establish set a strict quarantine measures in Bolnisi and Marneuli municipalities of Kvemo Kartli region.

As Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared, fact of infection with coronavirus, which source was not succeeded to be established, is recorded in Marneuli, respectively, stage of domestic transfer of the virus is begun.

3. SINCE MARCH 24, MOVEMENT OF INTER-CITY TRANSPORT IS PROHIBITED
Economics

Within state of emergency, declared in Georgia, the country’s government decided to prohibit movement of inter-city passenger transport countrywide since March 24. The ban does not concern cars.

4. NBG SUSPENDED OF LICENSING AND REGISTRATION FOR 2 MONTHS
Economics

National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared about suspension of licensing and registration of representatives of the financial sector for 2 months, proceeding from current situation in the country. To remind, Georgian government has declared state of emergency in the country for 1 month because of coronavirus pandemic.

5. ECONOMY MINISTER: DESPITE STATE OF EMERGENCY, MAIN PART OF ECONOMIC ACTIVITY WILL PROCEED
Economics

Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared that despite state of emergency (declared in the country for 1 month on March 21), main part of authorized economic activity will proceed smoothly.

The Minister specified that enterprises’ operation, infrastructure projects, construction projects are continued, as well as work of municipal transport.

6. IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” AGENCY LAUNCHED NEW PROGRAM
Economics

Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that proceeding from situation in connection with coronavirus pandemic, its Produce in Georgia Agency will implement a new program from now on.

The mentioned one-time program envisages mechanism of co-financing for family, small and medium hotels (4-50 rooms).

7. FINANCE MINISTER: COLLECTION BECAUSE OF FAILURE TO PAY WAS IMPOSED ON SECTORS, WHICH WERE NOT SUBJECTED TO TAX BENEFITS, INCLUDING TELEVISIONS
Politics

Georgian government allowed postponement for 4 months (until November 1) of declared tax obligations regarding income tax and property tax to those business sectors, which activity is suspended because of coronavirus pandemic.

As Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani indicated, there remain sectors, including TV broadcasters, which are not subjected to these privileges, and in case of failure to pay taxes, collection was imposed on them.

8. FOREIGN MINISTER: GRADUAL EVACUATION OF OUR CITIZENS FROM EUROPEAN CAPITALS MUST BE PROVIDED
Politics

“It is obligatory that gradual evacuation of our citizens from the European capitals was carried out”, Georgia’s Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani declared. “I emphasize – gradual, as our system and infrastructure must be respectively ready”, he stressed and specified that 3,000 Georgian citizens were returned for the last 2 weeks.
