1. AFD TO IMPLEMENT PROJECT ON TECHNICAL SUPPORT OF PENSION REFORM IN GEORGIA
Economics

French Development Agency (AFD) and its partner Expertise France are about to start implementation of the project on technical support to pension reform in Georgia, Georgian Finance Ministry reported. According to the Ministry, AFD allocates 500,000 EUR for this purpose.

2. IFC VICE-PRESIDENT: IFC CAN CONSIDER EMISSION OF LARI-DENOMINATED SECURITIES
Economics

Georgina Baker, vice-president of International Finance Corporation (IFC, member of the World Bank group), declared that IFC can consider emission of securities, denominated in lari.

According to Georgian Finance Ministry, the IFC vice-president declared this at the meeting with Georgia’s Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani today.

3. SINCE 2019, SALARIES OF MILITARY PERSONNEL, BORDER GUARDS, POLICE OFFICERS TO INCREASE
Economics

Since 2019, salary of military personnel, border guards, crews of coastguard vessels, officers of the Interior Ministry and Special Service of State Protection will increase, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared at the news briefing today.

In particular, the Premier said, salaries of 7,526 servicemen will be increased in 2019-2020, by 100-510 lari, depending on rank.

4. IN CASE OF BEGINNING OF WORK, BENEFICIARIES OF SOCIAL ASSISTANCE TO MAINTAIN RECEIVING THE ALLOWANCE DURING 1 YEAR
Economics

Before the government meeting today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared that allowance will be not cancelled to those beneficiaries of social assistance, who will manage to find job.

As the Premier specified, such persons will continue during 1 year receiving of the allowance within monetary component of the program.

5. PRIME MINISTER: UP TO 2,000 VIOLENTLY DISPLACED PERSONS WILL RECEIVE APARTMENTS
Economics

Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared that the draft budget-2019 envisages allocation of 90 million lari for resettlement of violently displaced families. That means that about 2,000 our citizens will receive apartments within this program, he declared at the news briefing before the government meeting today.

6. DEPUTY MINISTER OF ECONOMY: GROWTH OF PENSIONS UP TO 400 LARI IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE
Economics

“Growth of pensions up to 400 lari means mobilization in the budget of additional 1.9 billion lari that is practically impossible”, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Ekaterina Mikabadze declared.

Mikabadze declared this, while responding to Grigol Vashadze, presidential candidate from opposition union Strength is in Unity (key member – National Movement), who pledged to increase pensions up to 400 lari.

7. THE PARLIAMENT’S COMMITTEE ON BRANCH ECONOMY AND ECONOMIC POLICY: FAIL OF TIMELY COMPLETION OF PLANNED INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS WILL HAVE NEGATIVE IMPACT ON ECONOMIC GROWTH
Economics

If timely completion of planned infrastructure projects and consumption of allocated funds will fail, it will have negative impact both on current and on potential economic growth, Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy declared.

The Committee considers expedient to take corresponding risk factors into account upon planning of the state budget-2019.

8. CONSTRUCTION OF KHEVI-UBISA ROAD SECTION TO BE CONDUCTED BY CHINESE COMPANY
Business

Construction of Khevi-Ubisa section of the road through Rikoti pass (Kharagauli municipality of Imereti region) will be conducted by Chinese Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group, Georgian Roads Department declared.

The company won the international tender, announced for the purpose of construction, beating 9 rivals.

9. WIND POWER PLANT IS PLANNED TO BUILT WITH CHINESE PARTICIPATION
Business

Georgian Partnership Fund declared that during visit of its delegation to Shanghai, memorandum of understanding was signed with Chinese Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) and Long Ge Investment Consulting Co.

As the Fund specified, the memorandum envisages implementation of wind power plant project in Georgia, on Sabueti Mountains between municipalities of Kharagauli (Imereti region) and Khashuri (Shida Kartli region).
