    EDUARD SHEVARDNADZE WILL NOT VISIT JOKHAR-KALE (GROZNY) FOR CELEBRATION OF CHECHNYA’S INDEPENDENCE

    About this stated President’s Press Secretary Vakhtang Abashidze. According to him, the reason of this was extreme busyness of President Shevardnadze, however, he also mentioned “complex” relations, which presently exist between Georgiaand Russia.


    ARMENIA ADDRESSED GEORGIA WITH THE REQUEST TO BE A MEDIATOR DURING SETTLEMENT OF THE RELATIONSHIPS WITH TURKEY AND AZERBAIJAN

    As became known to Sarke, with this request Georgian authorities were addressed by the Armenian Foreign Minister Varden Oskanyan during his recent visit to Tbilisi. This information was confirmed by Georgian Foreign Ministry, as well as Armenian.

    VLADISLAV ARDZINBA APPOINTED THE NEW ABKHAZIAN REPRESENTATIVE FOR GEORGIAN-ABKHAZIAN NEGOTIATIONS

    President of the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia freed from the occupied post his representative in the Parliament Batal Tabagua and appointed him as an Abkhazian representative at Georgian-Abkhazian negotiations. Hitherto this post was occupied by Tamaz Ketsba.


    THE SUBDIVISIONS OF THE GEORGIAN ARMY WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE NATO TRAININGS IN THE FRAMES OF THE PROGRAM “PARTNERSHIP FOR PEACE”

    The military intelligence platoon of the Main Military Intelligence Agency will participate in the trainings, which will be held on September 5-10 in Macedonia. What concerns the subdivisions on preparing the non-fight operations, they will participate in the trainings, which will be held on September 29 – October 4 on the territory of Turkey.


    GEORGIAN PARLIAMENT CHAIRMAN ACCEPTED THE PARLIAMENT DELEGATION FROM FINLAND

    ZURAB ZHVANIA SUMMONS THE PARLIAMENT TO THE HARD WORK, AND SHALVA NATELASHVILI – TO THE RETURN OF THE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT

    At the opening today fall session of the Georgian Parliament, Zurab Zhvania summoned the MPs to prepare for the hard work to secure the political and social stability in the country. According to him, the recent terrorist act in Zugdidi witnesses the extremely tense situation in the country.

    STARTING FROM TODAY, THE WAGES AND STIPENDS IN GEORGIA ARE INCREASED BY 10%

    This is already second 10%-increase, since the beginning of the current year, realized in the limits of the President’s decree “On Additional Measures For Improvement Of The Wages Of The Budget Sphere Employees And Providing The Social Security Of The Population”. Monthly to the State Budget is picked out 4.5 million Lari, out of which 2.5 million is envisaged to increase the titular wage-rate and hour pay of the 350,000 people working in the budget sphere, and 2 million – on filling the Single state fund of the pension security and social insurance.
