    ONE MORE PRE-ELECTION ALLIANCE FORMED

    The parties Industry Will Save Georgia (headed by the president of the Ltd. Kazbegi Gogi Topadze) and For the Georgian Statehood (headed by the President’s aid on economic issues Temur Basilia and the MP Irakli Batiahsvili) signed the agreement on formation of the pre-election coalition on August 31. As the leaders of the Parties declared, the parties have the same goals and it is natural that they made this decision.


    THE LEADER OF THE UNITED REPUBLICAN PARTY AGAINST TRANSMISSION OF THE LARGE POWER PLANTS TO FOREIGNERS

    The Chairman of the United Republican Party Nodar Natadze declared that he will file a suit at the Constitutional court if the foreign companies will be remised a right on power plants’ ownership in the country. In his words, the selling of the power plants is against the constitution, as the main law of Georgia envisages existence of the single power system.


    BREACH IN THE TRADITIONALISTS’ UNION OF GEORGIAN

    On the threshold of the elections, Gela Kurashvili, the Chairman of the fraction of the Traditionalists’ Union of Georgian in Kutaisi Sakrebulo (the local administrative organ) left the party. He entered the bloc the Round Table-FreeGeorgia, where the forces supporting the policy of the former president Zviad Gamsakhurdia are united.


    ACCORDING TO THE VICE-SPEAKER OF THE PARLIAMENT THE DISSIDENTS ARE CHASED IN AJARA

    The vice-speaker of the parliament of the Ajarian Autonomic Republic, the Chairman of the local department of Citizens’ Union in Ajara Eduard Surmanidze declared that at least 700 men are chased by the Ajarian authorities. In his words, all of theses people are connected with the Citizens’ Union.


    THE VISIT OF THE GEORGIAN DEFENSE MINISTER TO CHINE CAME TO AN END

    The vice-premier of the State Council of China Xian Tsichen expressed his satisfaction with the development of the Chinese-Georgian relations in different spheres, during his meeting with the Defense Minister of Georgia David Tevzadze. He noted that the visit of the Georgian Defense Minister will facilitate to the further development of the co-operation between the two countries.

    THE INVESTMENT FUND WILL ASSIST THE ENTERPRISES OF FOOD AND REPROCESSING INDUSTRY

    The proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food on creation of the investment fund for the rehabilitation of the enterprises of the food and reprocessing industry, was discussed at the session of the government today. According to the draft decree of the President, it is envisaged to establish a supervisory board, which will have authority to create a fund and attract the appropriate financial resources.

    DAIMLER-CHRYSLER INTERESTED IN THE CO-OPERATION WITH THE GEORGIAN SCIENTISTS IN THE HIGH TECHNOLOGY SPHERE

    This is the information delivered by the member of the supervisory board of the concern Daimler-Chrysler Johannes Zemmler during his meeting with the State Minister Vazha Lortkipanidze on August 31. The guest said that the director of the Institute of the Space Installations Elguja Medzmariashvili, one of the creators of the space reflector, has been invited to Germany.

    According to the State Property Management Ministry, after opening of the envelopes by the tender commission on August 31 it has became known that 12 legal persons and individuals applied to participate in the tender. On each third lot several applications have been received.

    AT LAST, THE HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATION UMCOR HAS RECEIVED ITS GOODS

    The organization Umcor has not been able to get a humanitarian aid worth of $105,000 (drugs) for one month. Goods were not registered appropriately and the customs officers detained it.


    GARDABANI REGION PUT IN QUARANTINE

    As the vice-chairman of the of the Veterinary Department David Chichinadze declared to Sarke correspondent, this measure has been taken against outbreak of anthrax in the region located in the near vicinity of the Tbilisi. He noted that there have been noted the single cases of the disease in the population for one month.
