    RUSSIA DOES NOT RECOGNIZE ABKHAZIA’S INDEPENDENCE

    This is the information delivered by the Foreign Ministry of RF Igor Ivanov at the press-conference held in Moscow on September 1. He noted that Russia supports the settlement of Abkhazian problem in the framework of the unified Georgia.


    ABKHAZ AUTHORITIES ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ASSASSINATION IN THE VILLAGE TAGILONI TO THE GEORGIAN GUERILLAS

    Today, Interior Ministry of the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia fanned an announcement. The responsibility for the assassination, taking place in the village Tagiloni is assigned to Georgian guerillas, there.


    AMBASSADORS OF 8 COUNTRIES HANDED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA

    The ambassadors of South African Republic, Iceland, Sri-Lanka, Luxembourg, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Malta handed credentials to the President of Georgia at the Krtsanisi residence of the government today. The over appointed ambassadors wished success to the President of Georgia in the building of the Georgian statehood and declared that their efforts will be directed towards the deepening of their co-operation.


    THE STATE MINISTER OF GEORGIA MET THE AMBASSADOR OF KAZAKHSTAN

    The questions regarding the co-operation of the 2 countries were discussed during the meeting of the State Minister of Georgia Vazha Lortkipanidze and an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Kazakhstan Rashid Ibraev. They expressed their desire to speed up the process of putting the signed documents into force, what will enable to deepen the partnership and co-operation between the countries.


    THE VICE PREMIER OF CHECHNYA INFORMED SHEVARDNADZE ABOUT RUSSIA’S EFFORTS TO CREATE DESTABILIZATION IN AJARA

    Today, President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze met the vice-president of Chechnya Vakha Arsanov and the chairman of the Intelligence Department of Georgia Avtandil Ioseliani in his summer house in Tskhneti. The meeting was held behind the closed doors.


    TEMUR BASILIA LEFT THE MOVEMENT FOR THE GEORGIAN STATEHOOD

    The President’s aid on the issues of economic reform Temur Basilia, who is one of the leaders of the movement For the Georgian Statehood declared about his decision to leave the movement. According to Basilia, he has to co-ordinate a number of international projects and he thinks it inexpedient to take part in the pre-election period of any party at the same time.

    THE PROJECTS OF UN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN GEORGIA

    The projects, implemented in the framework of the UN Development Program, were considered at the session of the Consultation board on foreign investments. The project on overcoming the emergency situations and the elaboration of the national strategy of their management, their budget making up $1.6 million, were discussed in particular.


    PREVENTIVE TAXES PLANNED TO BE IMPOSED ON EXCHANGE OFFICES ON OCTOBER 1

    The decision on introduction of the preventive taxes has been approved at the session of the Georgian government. As it has been noted, according to he experts’ calculations, the introduction of taxes will increase the monthly revenue by 100,000-150,000 Lari per month.


    A NEW HEAD OF THE AIR TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT APPOINTED

    The President of Georgia gave his consent on the resignation request of the chairman of the Georgian Air Transport Department Jemal Margveladze. Giorgi Nizharadze, former director of the air company Air Zena has been appointed as a new head of the Department.


    THE FINANCE MINISTER PROMISED TO PAY GREAT ATTENTION TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH

    This is the information delivered by the Finance Minister David Onoprishvili at the enlarged session of the Health Ministry today. He noted that from the envisaged 52 million Lari only 60% has been received and consumed for the health sphere.

    TO TEACH IN GEORGIAN LANGUAGE BANNED IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS OF THE GALI REGION

    As the announcement of the Abkhazian administration of the Gali region states it, from now on, the studying process will be held in Russian and Abkhazian languages and the those who want to learn the Georgian, can learn it only after the 5th grade. According to the information delivered from Abkhazia, the separatists’ government plans to teach in schools only in Abkhazian language.
