    PRIME MINISTER: GEORGIA TO INTRODUCE PRACTICE OF ELECTRONIC RESIDENCE

    Since January 1, 2019, practice of electronic residence will be introduced in Georgia, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared at the news briefing before the government meeting today. The package of corresponding legislative amendments will be submitted to the Parliament, he noted.


    PRIME MINISTER: IN GEORGIA, COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION OF INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WILL BE ESTABLISHED

    In Georgia, commercial arbitration of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) will be established, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared at the news briefing before the government meeting today. The respective document will be signed in Paris on December 20, he noted.


    PRIME MINISTER: THE US ALLOCATES $500,000 FOR STRENGTHENING OF STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS IN GEORGIA

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared that the country has a challenge, facing aggressive propaganda from “unfriendly” forces.

    For overcome of this challenge, the US State Department allocates $500,000 to us, which target strengthening of our strategic communications, Bakhtadze declared at the news briefing before the government meeting today.


    PRIME MINISTER: POVERTY IS GEORGIA’S MAJOR ECONOMIC CHALLENGE

    The major economic challenge, which Georgia has, is a poverty, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared at the meeting with members of Georgian Business Association today. We will not be able to defeat it, if share of small and medium business in GDP does not grow, he pointed.


    NBG: INFORMATION THAT “TBC BANK” RECEIVED FROM NBG THE SUM, ISSUED IN CASE OF “OMEGA GROUP”, IS NOT TRUE

    In the statement, released today, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) denied recently spread information that the sum, issued by TBC Bank in case of Omega Group, was received by the bank from NBG. In the time, when the sum was withdrawn from TBC Bank, no encashment of foreign currency from NBG storage was conducted, NBG declared.

    ANNUAL INFLATION IN SEPTEMBER MADE UP 2.7%

    Sakstat reported that annual inflation in September made up 2.7%. Monthly inflation (i.e. calculated in comparison with the previous

    month, August) made up 0.3%.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: THE US ADMINISTRATION IS READY TO ASSIST US IN IMPLEMENTATION OF PROGRAMS OF MASS RETRAINING

    Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kobulia declared that the US Administration “is ready to assist us in implementation of programs of mass retraining”.

    The Minister said this after meeting with the US acting ambassador Elizabeth Rood and head of the USAID country mission Peter Wiebler today.


    KFW AND AFD ALLOCATE 74M EUR FOR GEORGIA’S ENERGY REFORM

    Georgia will get total of 74 million EUR from German reconstruction bank (KfW) and French Development Agency (AFD), Georgian Finance Ministry reported. Respective agreements were signed today.


    IN 9 MONTHS, NUMBER OF TOURISTS’ VISITS TO GEORGIA INCREASED BY 17.7% Y-O-Y

    For January-September, number of international visits to Georgia made up 5.65 million, increasing by 12.9% year-on-year. At that, number of tourist visits made up 3.77 million, increasing by 17.7%, Georgian National Tourism Administration reported.


    NATIONAL WINE AGENCY: AT THIS STAGE, INCOME OF WINEGROWERS IN KAKHETI AND RACHA-LECHKHUMI REACHED ABOUT 300M LARI

    Income of winegrowers of regions of Kakheti and Racha-Lechkhumi reached about 300 million lari, Georgian National Wine Agency reported.

    The Agency specified that as of October 3, rtveli (vintage) in Kakheti is near to end, while volume of processed grapes exceeds 200,000 t.
