ANNUAL INFLATION IN NOVEMBER MADE UP 7%
Sakstat reported that in November, Georgia’s annual inflation made up 7%, while monthly inflation (i.e. measured in comparison with October) – 0.9%.
Excluding prices of tobacco products, rate of annual inflation in the reporting month made up 6.3%, while rate of monthly inflation – 0.8%, Georgian statistics service specified.
NBG: ECONOMIC FORECASTS FOR GEORGIA ARE POSITIVE, BUT CERTAIN RISKS CAME TO LIGHT, BEING RELATED TO ECONOMIC GROWTH
Economic forecasts for Georgia are positive, but certain risks came to light, which are related to economic growth, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) said in its financial stability report. According to NBG forecast, Georgia’s GDP growth rate in 2019 will make up 4.5%.
NBG: IN Q1, SHARE OF TURKEY, RUSSIA AND THE EU IN GEORGIA’S TOTAL EXPORTS MADE UP 47%, WHILE IN TOTAL EXTERNAL INFLUX – 53%
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) said that Georgian economy considerably depends on situation in Turkey, Russia and the EU. NBG specified that share of these countries in Georgia’s total exports in the 1st quarter made up 47%, while in total external influx – 53%.
EUROCONTROL AND GEORGIA SIGNED SPECIAL AGREEMENT
Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported that special agreement was signed between the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) and Georgia.
As the Agency said, the agreement envisages EUROCONTROL’s assistance to Georgia in integration into system of Single European Sky and sustainable development of civil-military aviation system.
ADB APPROVED CREDIT OF $15M FOR FINANCING OF PREPARATORY AND PROJECT WORKS FOR THE NEW PROGRAM
Asian Development Bank (ADB) declared about approval of credit of $15 million (in EUR equivalent) to Georgia, intended for financing of preparatory and project works for the new program.
The matter concerns carrying out of technical analysis and other preparatory work for the ADB’s Georgia Livable Cities Investment Program, aiming help to improvement of infrastructure and services in Georgia’s cities.
GEORGIAN-BRITISH BUSINESS FORUM IS HELD
Today, Tbilisi hosted the Georgian-British business forum. According to Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the forum gathered “several dozens of active and potential British investors”.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION IS THAT NICHE, ON WHICH MAIN EMPHASIS IS PLACED
Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared that “professional education is that niche, on which the main emphasis is placed and which we will always promote”.
The Minister participated in a ceremony of handover of diplomas of professional education programs, authorized by the UK Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC), which held in college Specter today.
