    DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER: WE WILL KNOW NUMBER OF ASSISTANCE BENEFICIARIES ONLY AFTER OBTAINING OF CONCRETE DATA

    We will be able to estimate number of the state assistance beneficiaries only after we have obtain concrete official data, Georgia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili declared today.

    As Tskitishvili indicated, the government will be able to offer concrete assistance only when it will know, how many people left without salary in March because of crisis, caused by COVID-19 pandemic.


    PRIME MINISTER: AT THIS STAGE, BASIC LOAD PASSES TO HOSPITAL SECTOR

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia charged today the Ministry of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection to check full readiness of key clinics of the country within the next few days.

    “Today, unfortunately, we have 18 new confirmed cases [of COVID-19], the day before we had 15”, the Premier declared at the meeting of interdepartmental coordination council today and noted: “It is obvious that besides aggravation of situation, pace [of coronavirus spread] grows more and more”.

    ANNUAL INFLATION IN MARCH MADE UP 3.1%

    Sakstat reported that annual inflation in March made up 6.1%. In turn, monthly inflation in March (i.e. in comparison with February) made up 0.7%.


    ADB EXPECTS ZERO GROWTH OF GEORGIA’S ECONOMY IN 2020

    Asian Development Bank (ADB) forecasts drop of Georgia’s GDP growth to 0% in 2020 because of COVID-19 pandemic, decrease of oil price, declined consumption, tourism and trade.

    At the same time, ADB expects that economic growth in Georgia to recover to 4.5% in 2021.


    PRIME MINISTER: IN POST-CRISIS PERIOD, CREDIT AND GUARANTEE SCHEMES HAVE TO START WORKING

    “Ministries of Finance and Economy accept as assignment a launch of credit and guarantee schemes at the post-crisis stage”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared at the meeting of interdepartmental coordination council today.

    In these activities, assistance of our partner donor organizations could be received, the Premier noted.


    PRIME MINISTER: IN TERMS OF ECONOMIC PROGRAMS, CORE EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL PRODUCTION

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia declared that in terms of economic programs, core emphasis is placed on development of local production.

    “Such enterprises, which, for example, were not topical from the point of view of efficiency several months ago, get different load today”, the Premier declared at the meeting of interdepartmental coordination council today.


    COMPANIES, SEEKING CONTINUATION OF CONSTRUCTION IN TBILISI, HAVE TO APPLY FOR PERMISSION TO THE CITY HALL

    Tbilisi City Hall declared that those entities, which construction activity was suspended by resolution of Georgian government (because of COVID-19 pandemic), for continuation of works within Tbilisi boundaries have to apply electronically to the City Hall with official request.

    The City Hall noted that construction is understood as construction works of any kind, including construction of buildings.

    ECONOMY MINISTER: THROUGH RESUMPTION OF SUGAR PRODUCTION IN AGARA, WE WILL BE ABLE TO MEET HALF OF MARKET DEMAND

    Through resumption of sugar production in Agara (Shida Kartli region), we will be able to meet nearly 50% of the market demand, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava declared today.

    As the Minister said, we will work with investors, with management of the company and we are already ready to start work in order that “the plant became operational in a couple of months”.
