NOMINAL EXCHANGE RATE OF LARI AGAINST THE US DOLLAR STRENGTHENED IN Q2 BY 7.1%
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that nominal exchange rate of lari against the US dollar has strengthened in the 2nd quarter by 7.1% quarter-on-quarter.
It should be noted that since early June, exchange rate of lari against the US dollar varies very close to 2.4 GEL/USD.
SHARE OF IDLE CREDITS DECREASED IN Q2 BY 0.1 PERCENTAGE POINTS
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that in the 2nd quarter, share of idle credits in total credit portfolio of Georgian banks made up 6.9%. If compared with end of March, the indicator has decreased by 0.1 percentage points, NBG noted.
IN JANUARY-JUNE, FACTUAL SPENDING UNDER “OTHER EXPENSES” OF THE STATE BUDGET MADE UP 530.58M LARI
The government reported that factual spending, executed in January-June under “Other Expenses” item of the state budget, amounted to 530.58 million lari (95% of the plan).
Out of this sum, 298.44 million lari (99.7% of the plan) was spent for general education, including financing of comprehensive schools with 286.43 million lari (100%).
THE GOVERNMENT: AS OF 5 MONTHS, 879 PREFERENTIAL AGROCREDITS ARE ISSUED
In the semiannual budget performance report, the government said that within the preferential agrolending program, 853 credits of 63.2 million lari and 26 credits of $3.2 million are issued as of 5 months of the year.
The state co-funding of interest on these credits amounts to 23 million lari, the report points.
IN JANUARY-JUNE, 47 AGREEMENTS WERE SIGNED WITHIN FINANCE ACCESSIBILITY COMPONENT OF “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” PROGRAM
The government reported that in January-June, 47 agreements on co-financing of interest of credit and leasing were signed with beneficiary companies of “Produce in Georgia” state program’s component of accessibility of finance.
Out of total, 11 agreements were signed in direction of assistance to hotel industry, the government noted.
PARTNERSHIP FUND AND KFW DISCUSSED PROSPECTS OF GREEN CLIMATE COOPERATION
Georgian Partnership Fund reported about meeting, held with director of South Caucasus regional office of German Development Bank (KfW) Klaus Veigel.
At the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation prospects in the sphere of green climate, the Fund said.
VISITORS OF PROTECTED TERRITORIES INCREASED IN NUMBER 35% Y-O-Y
Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection reported that for 7 months of the year, 489,909 visitors have visited protected territories of the country. If compared with the same period of 2016, the number has increased by 35%, the Ministry noted.
AGRICULTURE MINISTRY: LAB EXAMINATION OF 60 EGG SAMPLES DIDN’T REVEAL ANY VIOLATION
Agriculture Ministry declared that National Food Agency carried out 81 inspections of poultry farms and eggs’ producers in this year. For laboratory examination, 60 samples of eggs were taken and no violations were revealed, the Ministry pointed.
LOTTERY ACTIVITIES TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE NEW COMPANY
Finance Ministry declared today that LLC Georgian National Lottery has won the tender, announced for revealing of entity, authorized to organize and hold lottery in the country.
This company will have an exclusive right on the mentioned activities during 10 years, the Ministry said, not specifying other details.
“GEORGIAN RAILWAY”: FRENCH EXPERTS SHARE EXPERIENCE IN EURODIRECTIVES’ INTRODUCTION WITH GEORGIAN PARTY
Georgian Railway reported that within TAIEX (the EU program of Technical Assistance Information Exchange), French experts share experience on introduction of European directives with Georgian party. Group of France railroad experts have visited Georgia for that end on August 1-3.
“RMG” PLANS INVESTMENT OF 30M LARI IN TETRITSKARO
Gold mining company RMG declared about plans on investment of 30 million lari in operations in Tetritskaro municipality (Kvemo Kartli region). The project is calculated for 2018-2022.
