UNDP: GEORGIAN PARLIAMENT FULLY FULFILLED 13 AND PARTIALLY – 11 OUT OF 24 OBLIGATIONS, UNDERTAKEN WITHIN ACTION PLAN OF OPEN PARLIAMENT FOR 2017

“Georgian Parliament fully implemented 13 and partially 11 out of 24 commitments described in the Open Parliament Action Plan 2017”, representation of the UN Development Program (UNDP) declared.

The representation marked among achievements of 2017 initiation of code of ethics of MPs and launch of electronic petitions system.




THE GOVERNMENT: THE EU POSITIVELY ESTIMATED REFORMS IN GEORGIA

The EU positively estimated reforms, implemented in Georgia, “which have cemented Georgia’s position as the EU’s strategic partner in the region”, Georgian government reported.

According to the government, Georgia-EU Association Council “welcomed the efforts of the Georgian government designed to implement reforms deepening relations with the EU”.

ANNUAL INFLATION IN JANUARY MADE UP 4.3%

Sakstat reported that annual inflation in January made up 4.3%. In turn, monthly inflation (i.e. compared with the previous month, December 2017) made up 0.6%.




IN 2018, THE EU TO ALLOCATE TO GEORGIA IN ADDITION NEW BUDGETARY SUPPORT

Georgia will sign this year agreements with the EU on allocation of new budgetary support, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

As the Ministry said, volume of the budgetary support program for business and economy development is determined within $47 million, while of the program of professional education and retraining – about $50 million.




THE GOVERNMENT: THE EU BEGINS CONSIDERATION OF POSSIBILITY OF GEORGIAN ENTERPRISES’ ACCREDITATION

The EU “is considering a possibility of accrediting Georgian businesses”, Georgian government declared, adding that “relevant procedures will start soon”.

As administration of the government said, the subject was agreed at the meeting between Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom, which took place in Brussels today.




ECONOMY MINISTRY: IN 9 MONTHS OF 2017, INVESTMENTS FROM EU COUNTRIES INCREASED BY 6% Y-O-Y

Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that in 9 months of 2017, investments from EU countries had totaled to $441 million. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 6%, the Ministry noted.




CENTER OF VISITORS TO BE BUILT IN ALGETI NATIONAL PARK

Construction of center of visitors Algeti national park is at the final stage, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared. The center will start operation in new tourist season.

FREIGHT TURNOVER OF “GEORGIAN RAILWAY” DECREASED IN 2017 BY 10.18%

Georgian Railway reported transportation of 10.67 million t of freights for 2017, which is by 10.18% less than in 2016.

At that, local freights amounted to 1.93 million t, decreasing year-on-year by 2.65%.




IN 2017, RAILWAY TRANSPORTATION OF OIL AND OIL-PRODUCTS VIA GEORGIA DECREASED BY 20.87%

Georgian Railway reported transportation of 4.35 million t of oil and oil-products for 2017. If compared with 2016, the volume has decreased by 20.87%.




NEW GEORGIAN AIRLINE BEGINS OPERATION

Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported that new Georgian airline, Ak-Air Georgia, begins operation on the market.

The Agency has already issued certificate of air vessel’s operator and transportation certificate to the air carrier (registered in October 2017).




WITHIN UNIFIED AGROPROJECT, “VAGO” BUILT COOL STORAGE FOR VEGETABLES AND FRUITS

Within unified agroproject, beneficiary of the agroproduction assisting program LLC Vago has built cool storage for vegetables and fruits, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported. The facility of 100 square m is located in Ingiri village of Zugdidi municipality (Samegrelo region).
