    MOSCOW HAS SIGNED THE PROTOCOL ON ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION BETWEEN GEORGIA AND RUSSIA

    The protocol has been signed in the framework of the III session's work of the Russian-Georgian commission. The protocol has been signed by the first Vice-Premier of RF Nicolai Aleksenko from the Russian side and by the State Minister Vazha Lortkipanidze from the Georgian side.


    RUSSIA SEEMS CONCERNED ABOUT FAILURE TO ACHIEVE PROGRESS IN THE SETTLEMENT OF THE ABKHAZ CONFLICT

    This is the information delivered by the informational center of the government about the negotiations on the settlement of Abkhaz conflict held in Moscow on August 3-4. Under Boris Yeltsin's instruction the Chairman of the government of RF Sergei Stepashin mediated the negotiations.


    GEORGIA DOES NOT CONSIDER TRILATERAL MEETING IN MOSCOW AS A PREPARATION FOR THE MEETING BETWEEN SHEVARDNADZE AND ARDZINBA

    This is the information delivered by the State Minister Vazha Lortkipanidze at the press-conference held in Moscow yesterday. In his words, the meeting of Lortkipanidze, Stepashin and Ardzinba aimed at promoting Moscow's activities towards the settlement of the Abkhaz conflict.


    THE PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS OF GEORGIA IS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 31

    The President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze signed the decree on this issue yesterday. The President went for a short vacation on Wednesday.


    ARDZINBA SEEKS A MEETING WITH RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTER

    As we were informed from Moscow, the leader of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia is in Russian capital at this time. According to the information provided by trustworthy sources, he seeks a meeting with Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Ivanov.


    THIS WEEK RUSSIAN PEACEKEEPERS' MANDATE IN ABKHAZIA WILL BE EXTENDED

    This is the information delivered by the Foreign Minister of RF Igor Ivanov to journalists after finishing of the bilateral consultation on the settlement of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict. The consultation on coordination of the protocol on the refugees return will be held in the near future.


    MORE ABKHAZ MILITIA SQUADS BROUGHT TO GALI REGION

    According to a message from Zugdidi, the authorities of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia are bringing additional militia squads to Gali region. The action is claimed to be aimed at preventing coming-out of hazelnut harvest to neighboring Zugdidi region.


    STALIN'S GRANDSON RUNS FOR A SEAT AT RUSSIAN STATE DUMA

    Iosif Stalin's grandson, 63-year-old Eugene Jugashvili, currently living in Tbilisi declared of his intention to run for a seat at Russian State Duma as candidate of left extreme bloc For USSR, formed of two political organizations - Working Russia and USSR Officers. Eugene Jugashvili is a Muscovite and citizen of Russian Federation.


    STALIN'S GRANDSON HAS BEEN ELECTED AS THE LEADER OF NATIONAL-PATRIOTIC FORCES

    The enlarged session of National-Patriotic forces of Georgia was held today. During the session Stalin's grandson Eugenie Jugashvili, the Chairman of the Ioseb Stalin's ideological Successors' society, was elected as the leader of themovement.
