ECONOMY MINISTER: ABOUT 2,700 APPLICATIONS FOR BUSINESS VISIT TO GEORGIA ARE ARRIVED
Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava reported that for now, 2,700 applications from various countries are received through online platform for persons, intending to carry out business visit to Georgia. To remind, Georgia accepts applications for business visit from any country after preliminary filling of corresponding form and coordination with the relevant industry department.
ECONOMY MINISTER: FOR GEORGIAN STUDENTS, WHO WISH TO BE SHORT-TERM EMPLOYED IN GERMANY, ONE MORE SO-CALLED SOCIAL FLIGHT WILL BE APPOINTED
Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava said that Georgian government plans to appoint one more so-called social flight for those Georgian students, who want to depart to Germany for short-term employment there. The Minister declared this after today’s meeting of interdepartmental coordination council (created by Georgian government for fight against COVID-19).
EDUCATIONAL PROCESS WILL BE RESUMED SINCE SEPTEMBER 15
Educational process at schools, as well as at universities of the country will be resumed since September 15 in usual mode, i.e. in classrooms and audiences, administration of Georgian government reported. Respective decision was made at today’s meeting of interdepartmental coordination council (created by Georgian government for fight against COVID-19).

NBG DEGRADED GDP GROWTH FORECAST
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) released today new forecast of Georgia’s GDP growth in 2020, according to which reduction of economy is expected at 5% that will have affect also inflation forecast in the direction of decrease. To remind, according to the May forecast of NBG, reduction of GDP in 2020 was expected at 4%.
MONETARY POLICY RATE LOWERED TO 8%
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) declared that its Monetary Policy Committee decided today to decrease the refinancing rate by 25 basis points he. Respectively, the monetary policy rate makes up 8% now.
ECONOMY MINISTER: WE CONTINUE NEGOTIATIONS WITH AIRLINES NOT ONLY ABOUT AUGUST, BUT ALREADY ABOUT SEPTEMBER TOO
Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava pointed that in August, regular flights were partially resumed for foreign airlines – Lufthansa, Air France, AirBaltic. Besides, commercial charter flights are carried out by Georgian Airways, she noted.
WITHIN INTERNETIZATION PROJECT, BUILDING OF PILOT NETWORK IN OZURGETI SHOULD BE COMPLETED UNTIL END OF THE YEAR
Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that building of pilot network in Ozurgeti (Guria region), launched within the project of internetization, has to be completed until end of the current year. According to the Ministry, approximate length of optic-fiber network will total to 145 km.

IN Q2, “VTB BANK GEORGIA” HAD LOSS OF 26.1M LARI
VTB Bank Georgia reported loss of 26.1 million lari for the 2nd quarter. In the 1st quarter, the bank had loss of 30.5 million lari, while reported profit of 1.5 million lari for the 2nd quarter of 2019.
IN 2019, PROFIT OF “CARTU” INSURANCE COMPANY INCREASED 7.7 TIMES
In 2019, insurance company Cartu had profit of 2.7 million lari. According to audited report of the company, the volume has increased 7.7 times year-on-year.

TBILISI MAYOR APOLOGIZED BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC JAMS ON CHAVCHAVADZE AVENUE
At the capital government meeting today, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze touched upon new system of traffic on Chavchavadze Avenue, enacted since August 1. “I want to apologize to all those people, car drivers, who specifically this day moved on Chavchavadze Avenue or on adjacent streets and had to stuck in traffic jams for some time”, the Mayor said.
