AGREEMENT BETWEEN GEORGIA AND THE BAHAMAS ON EXCHANGE OF TAX INFORMATION ENTERED IN FORCE
On September 1, agreement between the governments of Georgia and the Bahamas on exchange of tax information has entered in force. The document was adopted on November 4, 2016.

Kakha Kaladze, candidate for Tbilisi Mayor’s office from ruling Georgian Dream, declared that “unfortunately, the city lacks uniform economic vision today”. “Therefore, the first thing that we will make will be working out of municipal development plan, which will lay the ground for economic development of the city and due development of its potential”, Kaladze declared and noted that “inventory of municipal property will be carried out”.

EBRD PRESIDENT: INVESTMENTS OF EBRD IN GEORGIA WILL MAKE UP 350M EUR OR MORE
President of EBRD Suma Chakrabarti said that volume of the Bank’s investments in Georgia in 2016 “was record high”, reaching 250 million EUR. In 2017, we expect that volume of investments will amount to 350 million EUR or more, he declared.
DEPUTY MINISTER OF ECONOMY: WE HOPE THAT UNTIL END OF THE YEAR IN ECONOMY THE POSITIVE TENDENCY WILL REMAIN
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Nino Javakhadze pointed that the government has planned economic growth at 4% for 2017. “So far, we hope that until end of the year this positive tendency will remain and we will reach the better results, than was planned”, she declared at the news briefing today.
WINE AGENCY: AT THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF KVEVRI WINE, 22 OUT OF 150 SAMPLES WON GOLD MEDALS
National Wine Agency reported that 60 Georgian and 5 foreign companies (from France, Serbia and Slovenia) took part in the 1st international competition of kvevri wine (kvevri – clay vessel for Georgian traditional winemaking). Out of presented 150 samples, 22 ones received gold medals, 20 – silver and 29 – bronze, the Agency said.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: DEVELOPMENT OF E-COMMERCE STRATEGY IS STARTED
Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that its Produce in Georgia Agency has started development of strategy of electronic commerce. Works are conducted with assistance of “SME Development and DCFTA-Georgia” project of the EU and German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

“WISSOL GROUP” GOT RIGHT FOR DEVELOPMENT OF “EKO” FILLING STATIONS’ CHAIN
Wissol Group declared that it has signed the franchising contract with Hellenic Petroleum and got an exclusive right of development in Georgia of Eko filling stations’ chain. First pilot station under brand Eko was opened today in Tbilisi, on Vazha-Pshavela Avenue.
THE GOVERNMENT: GREEK “MOUZENIDIS GROUP” PLANS EXPANSION OF ACTIVITIES IN GEORGIA
Georgian government declared that Greek Mouzenidis Group, which operates mainly in spheres of tourism, logistics and transportations, plans expansion of activities in Georgia. The expansion plans were announced by Boris Mouzenidis, president of the Greek holding and owner of EllinAir air carrier, at the meeting with Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, which held in Tbilisi yesterday.

Partnership Fund reported that within “Startup Georgia”, 85 winners are revealed at this stage, of which 65 business ideas belong to innovative component of the project. Today, the Fund held presentation of another 6 winner projects.

Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that shootings of one more movie will begin in the country within the state program of encouragement of movie industry “Make a Film in Georgia”. In particular, Georgian production company 20 Steps Productions works on Georgian-French feature film “Girls on the Sun”.

INVESTIGATIVE SERVICE DETAINED TWO PERSONS BECAUSE OF FRAUDULENT ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY
Investigative Service of the Finance Ministry declared about detention of two persons because of acquisition of property in fraudulent way. Investigation has established that these persons, by use of false letters of attorney, fraudulently took control in 2016-2017 of land plots in Tbilisi with total area of 11,444 square m, belonging to two persons (citizens of Germany and Kazakhstan), the Service said.
