    SINCE FEBRUARY 20, ELECTRONIC LICENSING OF NATURAL RESOURCES’ USE TO BE ENACTED

    Maia Zavrashvili, head of National Subsoil Agency (new legal entity of public law within structure of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development), declared that electronic licensing of natural resources’ use will became available on the web site of Revenue Service after February 20.

    Zavrashvili specified that the new licensing program will provide electronic issuing of licenses and their amendment, submission of annual reporting and payment of regulation fee.


    IN 2017, VOLUME OF FREIGHTS, PROCESSED BY TRANSPORT SPHERE, DECREASED BY 1.9%, WHILE NUMBER OF TRANSPORTED PASSENGERS INCREASED BY 3%

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that volume of freights, transported in 2017 by Georgia’s transport sphere, totals to 41.5 million t. If compared with 2016, the volume has decreased by 1.9%.


    IN 2017, VOLUME OF FREIGHTS, PROCESSED IN SEAPORTS AND TERMINALS, DECREASED BY 7.4% Y-O-Y

    Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that Georgia’s seaports and terminals processed 16.3 million t of freights in 2017. If compared with 2016, the volume has decreased by 7.4%.


    WITHIN INITIATIVE “MAYORS FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH”, THE EU ALLOCATES GRANT OF 1.4M EUR TO GEORGIA

    Within initiative “Mayors for Economic Growth” (M4EG), the EU allocates grant of 1.4 million EUR to Georgia, the EU representation in Georgia reported.

    According to the representation, the grant is intended for 3 pilot projects, to be implemented in municipalities of Bolnisi, Gori and Tbilisi.

    IN Q4 OF 2017, PROFIT OF “TBC BANK” INCREASED BY 15.36% Y-O-Y

    TBC Bank reported net profit of 295.66 million lari for the 4th quarter of 2017. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 15.36%.


    IN Q4 OF 2017, PROFIT OF “SAKARTVELOS BANKI” INCREASED BY 72.5% Y-O-Y

    Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia) reported net profit of 371.75 million lari for the 4th quarter of 2017. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 72.5%.


    COMMUNICATION COMMISSION LAUNCHED ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEEDING BECAUSE OF INTENTION OF “SILKNET” TO ACQUIRE “GEOCELL”

    National Communication Commission considered expedient to launch public administrative proceeding in connection with SilkNet’s plans to acquire whole stake in mobile operator Geocell.

    The companies applied to the Commission with joint request of approval of the transaction on January 29.


    FORMER POST OFFICE BUILDING ON LESELIDZE STREET IN TBILISI IS SOLD FOR 2.22M LARI

    State-owned former post office building of 137 square m, located in Tbilisi on Leselidze Str. 55, is sold for 2.22 million lari, National Agency of State Property reported.

    The Agency pointed that part in electronic auction was taken “in conditions of unprecedentedly high competition” by 20 bidders.


    LAND PLOTS TOTALING TO 16,560 SQUARE M ARE ON SALE IN TBILISI’S SETTLEMENT ORKHEVI

    National Agency of State Property announced electronic auction on selling of two nonagricultural land sites with structures (7,726 square m and 8,834 square m), located in Tbilisi’s settlement Orkhevi.

    Initial price of the sites, being sold in single lot, makes up 1.15 million lari.
