    AGENCY FOR ANAKLIA PORT DEVELOPMENT TO BE SUBORDINATED TO ECONOMY MINISTRY

    At the meeting today, Georgian government decided to pass legal entity of public law Agency for Development of Deep-Water Port Anaklia in subordination to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. Until now, supervision of the Agency’s activity was carried out by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.


    BEKAURI IS RE-ELECTED AS COMMUNICATION COMMISSION CHAIRMAN

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that Kakha Bekauri was re-elected as its chairman for the second term.

    Elections were held on February 3, while their results were approved at the meeting today, the Commission noted.

    THE GOVERNMENT APPROVED BILL “ON REHABILITATION AND COLLECTIVE SATISFACTION OF CREDITORS”

    At the meeting today, Georgian government approved the bill “On Rehabilitation and Collective Satisfaction of Creditors”, prepared by the Justice Ministry.

    As the Ministry said, the bill will allow business to use rehabilitation mechanisms already at the initial stage of financial crisis instead of applying to the procedure of bankruptcy.


    THE GOVERNMENT CONSIDERED REFORM OF VAT

    At the meeting today, Georgian government considered the bill on reform of VAT, envisaging harmonization with principles of the EU. The bill was prepared by the Finance Ministry.


    HEALTHCARE MINISTER: RADICAL REFORM OF PRIMARY HEALTHCARE BEGINS

    Radical reform of primary healthcare begins, Georgia’s Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection Ekaterina Tikaradze declared, while acting on February 5 within “hour of the minister” in the country’s Parliament.

    According to the Minister, “Volume and list of services, subjected to provision in a primary healthcare link, are already thoroughly reviewed and defined”.


    IN 2019, GEORGIA’S INCOME FROM INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL INCREASED BY 1.4%

    Georgian National Tourism Administration reported that according to estimation, the country’s income from international travel amounted in 2019 to $3.3 billion. If compared with 2018, the volume has increased by 1.4%, the Administration said.


    GEORGIA IS NAMED OFFICIAL HOST COUNTRY OF “ITB BERLIN”

    Georgia is named official host country of Berlin international tourist exhibition “ITB Berlin” of 2022, Georgian government reported. Respective agreement will be signed on March 5, within visit to Germany of Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava.

    IFC ALLOCATES 100M LARI TO “SAKARTVELOS BANKI”

    International Finance Corporation (IFC, member of the World Bank group) announced allocation of long-term local currency credit of 100 million lari to Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia). As IFC specified, the resource is intended for financing of small business and female businessmen.


    CO-INVESTMENT FUND: EXCAVATION OF TUNNEL WITHIN “MTKVARIHES” PROJECT IS COMPLETED

    Works on excavation of a derivational tunnel within the project on MtkvariHES construction are completed, Georgian Co-Investment Fund reported. Length of the tunnel makes up 9.6 km, while its diameter – 6 m.
