    EUROPEAN MP: WE HAVE TO CONSIDER IN EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ISSUE OF GEORGIA’S DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT

    In my opinion, we have to consider issue of Georgia’s digital development in European Parliament, European MP, former Polish minister of administration and digitization Michal Boni declares.

    Boni participated in the forum “EuroDIG-2018” (European Dialogue on Internet Governance), which was held in Tbilisi.

    GEORGIA AND KOREA SIGNED MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION IN MARITIME NAVIGATION PROVISION

    Georgia and Korea signed memorandum of cooperation in provision of maritime navigation, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

    As the Ministry noted, the memorandum was signed by its State Hydrographic Service and Korean Maritime Affairs and Safety Policy Bureau.


    IDFI: ESSENTIAL PART OF THE GOVERNMENT RESERVE FUND WAS SPENT FOR YEARS NOT FOR FORCE-MAJEURE SITUATIONS, NUT FOR ACTIONS OF NATION-WIDE IMPORTANCE

    Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) declared that essential part of the government reserve fund was spent for years not for force-majeure or unforeseen situations, but for holding actions of nation-wide importance, as well as for ensuring smooth functioning of budgetary organizations or covering of particular operating costs.

    Besides, research of IDFI indicates that volume of the government reserve fund, which is determined by the budget, increased year-by-year at least by 80% in comparison with the plan.


    IN JUNE, “MONTH OF GEORGIAN WINE” WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE US

    In June, tasting presentations of Georgian wine will held in several cities of the US, National Wine Agency declared.

    In particular, events, organized by the Agency’s contractor companies (Tastingwork and Marq Energie Consulting), will cover New York, San Francisco, Houston and Portland.


    GEORGIAN AND RUSSIAN SIDES AGREED ON FACILITATION TO FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF “SAKRUSENERGO”

    Today, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili met in Tbilisi with chairman of board of Russian FCK UES Andrey Murov. As Georgian Ministry said, the parties agreed on facilitation to further development of Sakrusenergo (Georgian-Russian Energy).


    IN 2017, NUMBER OF FIXED BROADBAND INTERNET USERS INCREASED BY 11.6%

    National Communication Commission reported that number of users of fixed broadband Internet access amounted by the end of 2017 to 774,000. According to the Commission’s report, this number has increased by 11.6% year-on-year.


    REGULATING COMMISSION: 4G TRAFFIC PRACTICALLY LEFT BEHIND 3G ONE IN 2017

    In 2017, growth of mobile Internet traffic was held again majorly due to 4G, which practically left behind 3G traffic, Georgian National Communication Commission said.

    The Commission specified that in 2017, 4G accounted for 56% of total mobile Internet traffic, 3G – for 41.3%, while 2G – for 2.7% only.

    AMERICAN “BECHTEL” BECAME INTERESTED IN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS, PLANNED IN GEORGIA

    Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure declared that American company Bechtel became interested in infrastructure projects, planned in Georgia. At the meeting, which took place in the Ministry, representatives of the company were acquainted with the projects.


    “BLUEORCHARD FINANCE” ALLOCATES $10M TO “FINCA BANK”

    Swiss-based BlueOrchard Finance allocates $10 million to Georgian FINCA Bank. The parties signed respective memorandum recently.


    OPPOSITION OF “GEORGIAN AIRWAYS” AND “TAV GEORGIA” CONTINUES

    Last statement, released by Georgian Airways, blames TAV Georgia (operator of Tbilisi and Batumi airports) for impossibility to reduce ticket prices.

    In reply, TAV Georgia declares that this does not correspond to reality and specifies that Georgian Airways enjoys special discounts, but cost of its tickets exceeds one of foreign companies.


    “STYX” OFFERS ELECTRONIC SERVICE FOR FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION

    In this summer, electronic platform will appear on the local market, which will connect by means of application persons, interested to ship freight, with carriers, Georgian Agency of Innovations and Technologies declared.

    The platform was developed during a year by Georgian company STYX with support of the Agency.
