    NEW DEPARTMENT FOR LAND MANAGEMENT TO BE LAUNCHED IN 2020

    Levan Davitashvili, nominated for the post of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, declared that execution of laws “On Ownership of Land of Agricultural Purpose” and “On Determination of Purpose of Land and Steady Management of Land of Agricultural Purpose”, adopted this year, requires establishment of new institute.

    According to Davitashvili, the mentioned institute will be created since 2020.


    MINISTER NOMINEE: DEVELOPMENT OF MILITARY INDUSTRY IS ONE OF THE MAJOR PRIORITIES

    Irakli Garibashvili, nominated for the post of the Defense Minister, declared that “development of military industry is one of the major priorities”.

    “Annually, the Defense Ministry alone could spend several tens of millions, as well as other ministries, the Interior Ministry and others, on procurement of cartridges at least”, Garibashvili specified.

    IN SEVERAL WEEKS, PACKAGE OF AMENDMENTS TO INSOLVENCY SYSTEM TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE PARLIAMENT

    Thea Tsulukiani, nominated for the post of the Justice Minister, declared that in several weeks, package of draft amendments to be submitted to the Parliament, envisaging radical reform of insolvency system. System of individuals’ insolvency will be created also, she noted.


    MINISTER NOMINEE: NEW CUSTOMS CODE CONSIDERABLY SIMPLIFIED CUSTOMS PROCEDURES

    New Customs Code, which became effective in Georgia since September 1, considerably simplified customs procedures, declared Ivane Machavariani, nominated for the post of the Finance Minister. At this stage, public considerations of new Tax Code are underway, he reported.


    MECHANISM OF UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE PROGRAM’S FUNDING IS PLANNED TO CHANGE

    Ekaterina Tikaradze, nominated for the post of the Minister for IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection, reported that program of universal healthcare will be amended. Namely, mechanism of funding will be changed and principle of unified tariffs will be introduced, she said.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY DEVELOPED TRANSPORT LOGISTIC POLICY DOCUMENT

    Natia Turnava, nominated for the post of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, declared that the Ministry has developed a transport logistic policy document.

    “We think to introduce corresponding standards for logistic service”, Turnava said.


    MINISTER NOMINEE: MODEL OF AGROINSURANCE TO BE IMPROVED

    Levan Davitashvili, nominated for the post of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, declared that Georgian model of agroinsurance is successful, but needs perfection. “In this term, the Ministry conducts active work”, he noted.


    CONTROL OF VEHICLES’ EXHAUSTS TO START FROM TBILISI

    Levan Davitashvili, nominated for the post of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, declared that in Georgia, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture together with the Interior Ministry will begin in pilot mode check of vehicles’ exhaust gases from Tbilisi. Then it will be carried out countrywide, he said, noting that procurement of special equipment is planned.


    THE STATE TO CARRY OUT WATER SUPPLY WORKS OF OVER 240M LARI THIS YEAR

    Maya Tskitishvili, nominated for the post of the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, indicated that budget of projects in the sphere of water supply was increased in 2019 by 30% and made up 218 million lari. However, the budget will be corrected until end of the year and the Ministry will conduct works of over 240 million lari, she declared.

    MINISTER NOMINEE: IN SEPTEMBER, GEORGIA WILL JOIN EURAXESS

    Mikhail Batiashvili, nominated for the post of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, declared that in September, Georgia will join EURAXESS (a pan-European initiative, delivering information and support services to professional researchers).

    “That means that any Georgian scientist and institution will have direct access to more than to 15,000 organizations”, Batiashvili pointed.
