    DEPUTY MINISTER OF ECONOMY: AT THE INITIAL STAGE, 500,000-600,000 PERSONS TO TAKE PART IN ACCUMULATIVE PENSION SYSTEM

    Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Nino Javakhadze estimates that number of participants of accumulative pension system at the initial stage will make up 500,000-600,000 people.

    At the meeting, held in Georgian Business Association today, Javakhadze reported that legislation on so-called “third pillar” of pension system (private pension system) has been drafted currently.


    IN 9 MONTHS, THE GOVERNMENT’S RESERVE FUND FACTUALLY SPENT 31.27M LARI

    According to the government’s report on the budget performance, allocations of the government’s reserve fund for January-September were planned at 60.59 million lari. However, factual spending for the reporting period amounted to 31.27 million lari.


    IN 9 MONTHS, REGIONAL PROJECTS FUND FACTUALLY SPENT 112.83M LARI

    According to the government’s report on the budget performance, allocations of fund for implementation of projects in regions for January-September were planned at 245.62 million lari. However, factual spending for the reporting period amounted to 112.83 million lari.


    IN 9 MONTHS, MOUNTAIN SETTLEMENTS’ DEVELOPMENT FUND FACTUALLY SPENT 3.53M LARI

    According to the government’s report on the budget performance, allocations of fund for mountain settlements’ development for January-September were planned at 17.83 million lari. However, factual spending for the reporting period amounted to 3.53 million lari.


    MECHANISMS OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION TO BE INTRODUCED NEXT YEAR IN PILOT REGIONS

    Deputy Minister of Agriculture Revaz Asatiani declared that strategy of extension (application of scientific research and new knowledge to agricultural practices through farmer education) will be applied in two stages.

    Namely, at the 1st stage (2018), mechanisms of agricultural extension will be introduced in pilot regions – Racha-Lechkhumi and Guria.


    REHABILITATION OF CHIATURA-PEREVISA-SVERI-TVALUETI-GEZRULI ROAD SECTION TO BE COMPLETED THIS YEAR

    Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported about rehabilitation, which Roads Department conducts on 7-km section of Chiatura-Perevisa-Tvalueti-Gezruli road of domestic importance (Imereti region). The works, which were started in August, will be completed until end of the year, the Ministry said.


    EUROPEAN ENVIRONMENT AGENCY, “SAKSTAT” AND GEORGIAN ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION MINISTRY AGREED ON COOPERATION

    Today, European Environment Agency (EEA), Sakstat and Georgian Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection signed in Tbilisi a cooperation agreement.

    Under the agreement, improvement of availability and distribution of environmental statistics is planned, Sakstat said.


    STUDENTS OF BATUMI MARITIME ACADEMY TO PASS INTERNSHIP ON VESSELS OF KOREAN “HYUNDAI GLOVIS”

    Students of Batumi State Maritime Academy will pass internship on vessels of the Korean company Hyundai Glovis, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported. The Academy and the company have signed respective agreement on cooperation.

    “SILK ROAD GROUP” TO BUILD “SILK TOWER” IN BATUMI TOGETHER WITH CO-INVESTMENT FUND

    Georgian Co-Investment Fund, established by billionaire ex-premier Bidzina Ivanishvili, declared today about readiness to join the project of Silk Road Group, envisaging construction of Silk Tower in Batumi. The Fund did not disclose volume of its participation.


    TOURISM DEVELOPMENT FUND: GREEN CAPE TO BE CONNECTED WITH THE BEACH BY ROPEWAY

    Tourism Development Fund (founded by Georgian Co-Investment Fund, established in its turn by billionaire ex-premier Bidzina Ivanishvili), declared that the Black Sea resort Green Cape will be connected with the beach by ropeway.

    The ropeway with daily capacity of 5,000 people will be installed by Austrian company Doppelmayr, the Fund said.
