    THE EU REPORT: GEORGIA REMAINS COMMITTED TO ASSUMED OBLIGATIONS, BUT REFORMS SHOULD BE MAINTAINED, WHILE POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT – DEPOLARIZED

    “Georgia’s strong commitment to political association and economic integration with the EU remained a priority, supported by 78% of the population”, states the 4th annual Association Implementation Report on Georgia, published by the EU today.

    On the other hand, the report points that “2020 will be an important year for Georgia to continue to demonstrate its reform commitment, which will be crucial for further advancing on its European path” and specifies that “It will be key to take forward ambitious election reforms, to tackle the increasing political polarization and to pursue judicial reform”.

    IN 2019, PAYMENTS OF THE STATE BUDGET MADE UP 101.1% OF THE PLAN

    Georgian Finance Ministry’s Treasury Service reported that factual payments of the country’s state budget amounted in 2019 to 13.47 billion lari, i.e. 101.1% of the plan.

    As the Treasury noted, 91.2% of this volume were budgetary funds, while the rest – credits and grants.


    IN 2019, USE OF BALANCE ACCOUNT OF THE STATE BUDGET MADE UP 217.5M LARI

    As of January 1, 2019, adjusted balance of Georgia’s state budget amounted to 661.2 million lari, of which free balance made up 660.58 million lari, Georgian Finance Ministry’s Treasury Service reported.

    Whereas, the balance as of January 1, 2020 made up 443.71 million lari, including free balance of 442.98 million lari.


    IN 2019, PLAN OF THE STATE BUDGET’S REVENUES WAS OVER-FULFILLED BY 1.3%

    Georgian Finance Ministry’s Treasury Service reported that revenues of the country’s state budget amounted in 2019 to 10.68 billion lari, making up 101.3% of the forecast.

    Out of total, tax revenues amounted to 9.67 billion lari (100.2% of the plan).


    IN 2019, THE STATE BUDGET’S PLAN OF PRIVATIZATION WAS OVER-FULFILLED BY 16.5%

    Georgian Finance Ministry’s Treasury Service reported that gain of the country’s state budget from reduction of non-financial assets (privatization) amounted in 2019 to 93.23 million lari. This volume makes up 116.5% of the forecast, the Service noted.


    RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED ON EXPORT OF CATTLE, WEIGHING UP TO 200 KG

    Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that the country’s government decided to raise threshold of live cattle weight, permitted for export, from 140 kg to 200 kg.

    As the Ministry noted, restriction does not apply to export of male cattle.


    FROM FUND ON MOUNTAIN SETTLEMENTS’ DEVELOPMENT, 10M LARI TO BE SPENT ON INFRASTRUCTURE

    Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported that the country’s government decided to spend half of 20 million lari, allocated to Fund for Mountain Settlements’ Development, on infrastructure works. Remained 10 million lari will be directed to agriculture development projects, the Ministry noted.

    COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: “CAUCASUS ONLINE” IS FINED WITH 90,000 LARI, THE COMPANY’S AUTHORIZATION COULD BE SUSPENDED

    Because of non-fulfillment of assigned obligations, LLC Caucasus Online is fined with 90,000 lari, while LLC Railway Telecom – with 63,930 lari, Georgian National Communication Commission reported.

    The matter concerns alienation of stakes in the companies without advance consent of the Commission.
