NBG: TOUGHENING OF MONETARY POLICY IN 2017 REFLECTED MAINLY IN GROWTH OF INTEREST RATES ON CREDITS, ISSUED IN LARI TO HOUSEHOLDS
Toughening of monetary policy has reflected mainly in growth of interest rates on credits, issued in national currency to households, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) said in its report for 2017.
At that, NBG pointed that interest rates on credits, issued in national currency to legal entities, practically did not change.
NBG: IN RECENT YEARS, BANKING SYSTEM OPERATES IN CONDITIONS OF LIQUIDITY DEFICIT
During recent years, there is no need of withdrawal of medium-term liquidity from the market, as the banking system operates in the conditions of deficiency of liquidity, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) pointed in its report for 2017.
This is proved by the fact that in 2017, like in 2016, the volume of refinancing credits had exceeded the volume of deposit certificates, NBG said.
THE GOVERNMENT: CAUCASIAN MOUNTAIN CENTER WILL BE CREATED IN SVANETI
In Mestia of mountainous Svaneti region, Caucasian mountain center will be created, Georgian government declared. Details of the project were discussed on May 6, at the meeting of Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and famous Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner.
SCIENTIFIC AND CONSULTING COUNCIL TO BE CREATED, WORKING ON ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTION ISSUES
Scientific and consulting council will be created at the Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy, which will work on architectural and construction issues, the Parliament reported. The Committee approved the decision at the meeting today.
THE 2ND KVEVRI WINE COMPETITION ATTRACTED 70 COMPANIES
Tbilisi hosted the 2nd international competition of kvevri wine (i.e. made by traditional Georgian technology in sub-ground clay vessels), National Wine Agency reported.
According to the Agency, 70 companies, both large ones and small and medium family wine cellars had presented about 200 wine samples for the competition.
CONSTRUCTION OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL CLINIC IN VILLAGE RUKHI TO BE FINISHED UNTIL END OF THE YEAR
Construction of multifunctional clinic in village Rukhi (Zugdidi municipality of Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti region) will be completed until end of the year, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure declared. Currently, interior works are conducted in the buildings.
COMPETITION ANNOUNCED ON PASSENGERS’ TRANSPORTATION TO KUTAISI AIRPORT
State-owned LLC Georgian Airports Association invited bids for motor transportation of passengers to/from Kutaisi airport.
The company said that unlike previous years, it will not grant this year the mentioned right exclusively to single particular entity, as both passenger traffic and number of directions are growing in the airport.

National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission declared about launch of administrative proceeding, aiming establishment of tariffs of the gas distribution licensee, JSC Wissol Petroleum Georgia. The matter concerns tariffs on supply, distribution, transition and consumption of natural gas.
