ANNUAL INFLATION IN LAST DECEMBER MADE UP 7%
Sakstat reported that annual inflation in December 2019 made up 7%. Monthly inflation (i.e. in comparison with November) made up 0.4%.
“TBC RESEARCH”: ECONOMIC GROWTH IN 2019 HAS TO MAKE UP 5.2%, IN 2020 – 4.5%
TBC Research released a forecast, according to which Georgia’s GDP growth in 2019 has to make up 5.2%, at least.
In 2020, growth rate is expected at the level of 5%, however “considering election related uncertainties, in the baseline scenario we project around 4.5% growth”, TBC Research says.
IN 2019, NUMBER OF TOURIST VISITS TO GEORGIA INCREASED BY 6.8%
Georgian National Tourism Administration reported that as of December 27, 2019, there were 5 million tourist visits made to Georgia during a year. If compared with the same period of 2018, the number has increased by 6.8%, the Administration said.
TARIFFS OF “ENGURHES”, “VARDNILHES” AND “GEORGIAN STATE ELECTROSYSTEM” ARE LOWERED
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that electricity generation tariffs of EngurHES and series of VardnilHES hydroelectric stations are lowered.
Reduction (adjustment) of tariffs is caused by principles of current methodology for tariff calculation, the Commission explained.
IN 2019, ENVIRONMENTAL SUPERVISION DEPARTMENT REVEALED 1,992 OFFENCES
Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that in 2019 its Environmental Supervision Department conducted planned and unplanned inspections of 2,750 regulation-subjected objects. After these inspections, 1,992 offenses were revealed, the Ministry said.
IN 2019, NATIONAL REGULATING COMMISSION WROTE OFF 2.5M LARI IN FAVOR OF CONSUMERS
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that up to 3,500 disputes between consumers and utility companies were considered during 2019.
As the Commission said, majority of consumers’ complaints was satisfied and over 2.5 million lari were written off within a year from the companies in favor of consumers.
