    IN Q1, DEMAND FOR TREASURY BILLS EXCEEDED EMISSION 3.3 TIMES

    National Bank of Georgia reported that in the 1st quarter, demand for treasury bills (maturity – 182 and 364 days) exceeded emission 3.3 times.

    In particular, demand at 4 auctions held in the reporting period totaled to 197.5 million lari (year-on-year reduction – 3 times).


    IN Q1, DEMAND FOR TREASURY BONDS EXCEEDED EMISSION 2.5 TIMES

    National Bank of Georgia reported that in the 1st quarter, demand for treasury bonds (maturity – 2, 5 and 10 years) exceeded emission 2.5 times.

    In particular, demand at 6 auctions held in the reporting period totaled to 431.5 million lari, while placement – to 170 million lari.


    IN 2020, 5 TYPES OF INSURANCE ACCOUNTED FOR 87.2% OF TOTAL ATTRACTED PREMIUM

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that in total premium, attracted by Georgian insurers in 2020 (667.3 million lari), combined share of 5 types of insurance made up 87.2%, or 581.7 million lari. Within the top five, positions of types of insurance underwent minor changes.


    IN 2020, 5 TYPES OF INSURANCE ACCOUNTED FOR 95.5% OF TOTAL REIMBURSEMENTS

    Georgian State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that in total reimbursements, made by Georgian insurers in 2020 (385.5 million lari), combined share of 5 types of insurance made up 95.5%, or 368.2 million lari.

    Medical (health) insurance maintained the first position – 48.6% of total volume, i.e. 187.2 million lari (year-on-year decrease – 0.9%).


    REHABILITATION OF SAGAREJO – UDABNO – DAVID GAREJI ROAD SECTION TO END IN SUMMER

    Rehabilitation of 14.8-km section of Sagarejo – Udabno – David Gareji road of domestic importance (Kakheti region) will be completed this summer, reported Georgian Roads Department.

    The Department noted that the project was financed from the state budget, which allocated 6.4 million lari for that end.

    COMMUNICATION COMMISSION TO FUND INTERNATIONAL AUDIT OF “TRI MEDIA INTELLIGENCE”

    International audit of TV rating company Tri Media Intelligence, representative of British Kantar Media in Georgia, will be conducted with funding of Georgian National Communications Commission. The Commission announced tender for the audit on April 2.


    WITHIN THE PROGRAM “100 INVESTMENT PROPOSALS FOR BUSINESS”, “INERT MATERIALS PLANT” ACQUIRED A QUARRY PLOT

    With support of the state program “100 Investment Proposals for Business”, Inert Materials Plant has acquired quarry land plot of 3 ha in Terjola (Imereti region), reported Georgian National Agency of Mines. The company plans to extract sand and gravel there.

    IDFI: IN 2020, DECREASE OF CRIME RATE IN GEORGIA WAS CAUSED MAINLY BY THE PANDEMIC-RELATED RESTRICTIONS

    Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) declared that reduction of Georgia’s general crime rate in 2020 was caused mainly by restrictions, imposed in response to COVID-19 spread, and is less related to improvement of criminal situation in the country.

    In 2020, despite decline of the general rate, various types of crimes maintained growing trend, the organization pointed.
