    CONCEPT APPROVED OF ROAD MAP FOR GEORGIA’S INTEGRATION INTO THE EU

    The commission on Georgia’s integration into the EU held today in Tbilisi its 57th meeting, where concept of the road map of the country’s integration into the EU was approved, Georgian government reported.

    As Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared at the meeting, “We are ready to make more, than the agreement on association with the EU demands, in order to continue in future successful movement toward Europe”.


    GEORGIA CONSIDERS FURTHER DEEPENING OF ECONOMIC RELATIONS WITH IRAN

    On May 7, Georgia’s First Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili visited Iran with one-day working visit.

    During the visit, issues of further deepening of bilateral economic relations, energy direction, cooperation in regional projects and prospects of development of transport corridor were considered, the Economy Ministry said.

    NBG’S UPDATED FORECAST: REAL GDP GROWTH IN 2018 WILL BE WITHIN 4.8%

    In his monetary policy report, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) released the updated forecast, according to which real GDP growth in 2018 will be within 4.8%, exceeding slightly the forecast of previous report.

    As NBG explained, revision of the forecast is connected with better than expected dynamics of the external sector.


    NBG: INFLATION WILL REMAIN CLOSE TO TARGET INDICATOR IN 2018, AS WELL AS IN MEDIUM-TERM PERIOD

    Monetary policy report, published by National Bank of Georgia (NBG) today, indicates that according to current forecast, annual inflation will remain close to target indicator (3%) both in 2018 and in medium-term period.

    NBG expects that the mentioned inflation rate, “in spite of ascending pressure, which will put upon it, along with other factors, by some (one-time) shocks”.


    NBG: RATIO OF NEGATIVE BALANCE OF PAYMENTS TO GDP WILL REMAIN ON ONE-DIGIT LEVEL

    Pointing at short and medium-term forecasts, National Bank of Georgia (NBG) expects that ratio of negative balance of payments to GDP will remain on one-digit level.

    In the monetary policy report, published today, NBG says that the forecast is made in assumption that in Georgia’s trade partner countries stable situation will remain and tendency of moderate growth of income from export and other foreign sources will be maintained.


    FINANCE MINISTER DISCUSSED GROWTH OF INVESTMENTS IN GEORGIA WITH PRESIDENT OF EBRD

    We discussed those projects, which will give us an opportunity to increase even more investments of EBRD in Georgia, Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze declared after the meeting with EBRD president Suma Chakrabarti.

    The meeting was held in Amman (Jordan), within the annual meeting of EBRD.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: GEORGIAN FORWARDERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO TAKE FREIGHTS IN ANY PORT OF IRAN

    Georgian forwarders will be allowed to take freights in any port of Iran, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

    The decision was made at the meeting of Georgian-Iranian commission on motor transport, held within 1-day visit (on May 7) to Iran of Georgia’s First Deputy Premier and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili, the Ministry said.


    RESEARCH OF TOURISM ADMINISTRATION: CORE MARKETS FOR ENTRY TOUR OPERATORS ARE RUSSIA, UKRAINE, KAZAKHSTAN, ISRAEL AND GERMANY

    Georgian travel companies, engaged in entry tourism, named as their core markets Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Israel and Germany, Georgian National Tourism Administration reported.

    In turn, travel companies, engaged in exit tourism, named as such markets Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Greece, Spain, the Ministry pointed.


    MINISTRY OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: SEVERAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS LAUNCHED IN ABASTUMANI

    Several infrastructure projects were launched in Abastumani (mountainous health resort in Samtskhe-Javakheti region), the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure declared.

    Currently, rehabilitation of historical houses is underway, as well as reconstruction of Bagdati-Abastumani road.

    ECONOMY MINISTRY: WITH PARTICIPATION OF IRANIAN INVESTMENTS, OIL REFINERY HAS TO BE BUILT IN SUPSA

    With participation of Iranian investments, oil refinery and petrochemical complex has to be built in village Supsa (Lanchkhuti municipality of Guria region), Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared. Crude oil will be supplied from two Iranian fields, the Ministry specified.


    ROMANIAN STATE-OWNED AIRLINE TO LAUNCH FLIGHTS TO GEORGIA

    Romanian state-owned air company Tarom begins operation in Georgia, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared. Since July 1, the company will conduct 3 flights a week between Tbilisi and Bucharest.
