“GEORGIAN DREAM” EXECUTIVE SECRETARY: AN INTERIM COMMISSION WILL BE ESTABLISHED TO INVESTIGATE CRIMES OF THE 2003-2012 REGIME
In the very first week of the spring session of the Parliament, an interim investigative commission will be established to investigate crimes of the regime of 2003-2012 (i.e. when United National Movement was in power) and activities of officials of this regime, the executive secretary of the Georgian Dream Mamuka Mdinaradze declared at the news briefing today. According to Mdinaradze, the commission will work for 6 months and prepare a conclusion, which the Parliament will consider and approve in the first week of the autumn session.
GEORGIAN CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS PROTEST REPRESSIONS AGAINST CIVIL SERVANTS
“We, the undersigned organizations, express our profound condemnation regarding the repressive measures perpetrated by representatives of the Georgian Dream party against public officials in recent weeks”, Georgian civil society organizations said in a statement today. As they noted, “Over the past two weeks alone, dozens of public officials have been dismissed from their posts”.
FIFTH PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA: NEW PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE
The fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, believes that there is no alternative to new parliamentary elections in the country. Without elections, the country will not be able to get out of the crisis and “no one will be able to rule the country against their people for a long time”, she said at the news briefing today.

IN Q4 OF 2024, DEMAND FOR GEORGIAN TREASURY BONDS EXCEEDED PLACEMENT 2 TIMES, RATES INCREASED
In the 4th quarter of 2024, 11 auctions were held on Georgian treasury bonds (maturity period of 1,139 to 3,563 days), demand totaled to 1.48 billion lari, the National Bank of Georgia reported. During the reporting period, placement (face value) totaled to 723.45 million lari (accordingly, demand 2 times exceeded placement).
IN Q4 OF 2024, DEMAND FOR GEORGIAN TREASURY BILLS EXCEEDED PLACEMENT 2.5 TIMES, RATES DECREASED
In the 4th quarter of 2024, demand at 6 auctions held on Georgian treasury bills (maturity period – 182 and 364 days) totaled to 300.16 million lari, the National Bank of Georgia reported. In the reporting quarter, placement (face value) was equal to announced emission, making up 120 million lari (respectively, the demand 2.5 times exceeded the placement).
AS OF END OF 2024, VOLUME OF GEORGIAN TREASURY SECURITIES HELD BY LOCAL BANKS INCREASED BY 71.8% Y-O-Y
As of December 31, 2024, Georgian banks held treasury securities issued in national currency totaling to 6.66 billion lari, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported. If compared to the same period of 2023, the volume has increased by 71.8%.
IN 2024, DEMAND FOR NBG’S DEPOSIT CERTIFICATES EXCEEDED EMISSION 2.6 TIMES
In 2024, the demand for the National Bank of Georgia’s (NBG) deposit certificates (discount securities with a maturity period of 91 days) exceeded the emission 2.6 times. Namely, the demand for deposit certificates totaled to 685.5 million lari, while the placement at 10 auctions was equal to announced emission of 260 million lari, NBG reported.
“GALT&TAGGART”: IN 2024, SHARE OF RUSSIANS IN TOTAL APARTMENT SALES IN TBILISI DECREASED, WHILE SHARE OF ISRAELIS INCREASED
In 2024, the trend of selling apartments to foreigners changed, Galt&Taggart indicates in their review of Tbilisi real estate market. In particular, share of Russian citizens in total sales decreased from 7% to 2%, while share of Israeli citizens increased from 4% to 12%, Galt&Taggart reports.
