AS OF SEPTEMBER, DEPOSITS INCREASED, EXCLUDING EXCHANGE RATE EFFECT, BY 18.5% Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia reported that as of September, volume of deposits has totaled to 18.3 billion lari, being increased year-on-year (excluding exchange rate effect) by 18.5%.
Including exchange rate effect, deposits have increased by 23.3%, while real growth (i.e. excluding inflation effect) made up 17.2%.
AS OF SEPTEMBER, DEPOSITS’ DOLLARIZATION RATE MADE UP 65.3%
National Bank of Georgia reported that as of September, rate of deposits’ dollarization (i.e. ratio of deposits, placed in the US dollar, to total volume of deposits), made up 65.3% (excluding exchange rate effect).
To compare, a year ago (i.e. as of September 2016), the rate made up 70.4%.
EBRD RAISED GEORGIA’S ECONOMIC GROWTH FORECAST FOR 2017 AND 2018
According to latest forecast of EBRD, rate of Georgia’s economy growth in 2017 and 2018 will make up 4.5%. In its recent report, the bank has raised own previous forecast for 2017 by 0.6 percentage points, while for 2018 – by 0.3 percentage points.
PARTICIPATION OF CEB IN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS, HAVING TOURIST POTENTIAL, IS CONSIDERED
Georgian Finance Ministry reported that possibility of participation of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) in construction of road to mountain region Svaneti and other infrastructure projects, having significant tourist potential, is considered.
Currently, rehabilitation of 25 schools is conducted through financing of CEB.
COMMUNICATION COMMISSION PUBLISHED DRAFTS OF TWO HARMONIZED EUROPEAN STANDARDS
Under memorandum of understanding with European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), Georgian National Communication Commission published drafts of two new standards.
Within one month, all interested entities may present own written comments on the subject (in English).
CIVIL AVIATION AGENCY: NUMBER OF REGULAR FLIGHTS IN WINTER SEASON INCREASES BY 28.7%
Georgian Civil Aviation Agency reported that on average 318 flights will be conducted weekly through Georgia’s airports in winter navigation season (from last week of October to the last week of March). That number in the past year made up 247, so year-on-year growth makes up 28.7%, the Agency pointed.
UNDP REPRESENTATION: INTRODUCTION OF ENERGY-EFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGIES CUTS FIREWOOD USE IN VILLAGES NEARBY TO MACHAKHELA NATIONAL PARK
Representation of the UN Development Program (UNDP) reported that regular firewood stoves in 16 households and a public school of 3 villages, adjacent to Machakhela National Park (Ajara), were replaced with biomass, energy effective stoves and solar panels.
As the representation said, the “piloting showed that renewable energy proves effective as a substitute for firewood”.

Since September, Galt&Taggart offers same service in respect of other cryptocurrency, Bitcoin.
