MINISTER OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: THE LAWSUIT WILL NOT BE AN OBSTACLE IN PROCESS OF NEW BIDS INVITATION ON ANAKLIA PORT
Georgia’s Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili declared that possible lawsuit with Anaklia Development Consortium in connection with termination of the investment agreement by Georgian government “is not favorable for us, but we will not be frightened by this lawsuit too”.
According to the Minister, the lawsuit “is not the hampering factor in the process of new bids invitation, preparation for which we have already started”.
NATIONAL FORENSIC EXAMINATION BUREAU HAS NEW HEAD
Georgian government declared that Samkharauli National Forensic Examination Bureau will be headed by Leri Barnabishvili.
Until his appointment, Barnabishvili was the deputy finance minister (since 2015).
THE WB DECREASED FORECAST FOR GEORGIA’S ECONOMIC GROWTH IN 2020
In the “Global Economic Prospects” report, published by the World Bank (WB) on January 8, growth of Georgian economic in 2019 is estimated at 5.2%, being increased by 0.6% in comparison with the previous forecast.
At the same time, forecast for 2020 makes up 4.3% that is by 0.5% less in comparison with the previous estimation.
NBG BECAME GOVERNING MEMBER OF INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR PENSION SUPERVISION
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that since December 2019, it became governing member of the International Organization for Pension Supervision (IOPS). That membership will allow examination of other member countries’ experience in the sphere of pension funds’ regulation, NBG noted.
DOCUMENTATION WILL BE PREPARED FOR PROTECTION IN UNESCO OF ENDEMIC VARIETIES OF GEORGIAN WHEAT
Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture reported that documentation will be prepared, necessary for protection of endemic varieties of the Georgian wheat in UNESCO. First meeting of the corresponding working group was held in the Ministry on January 9.
TBILISI CITY HALL: NEXT STAGE OF CHAVCHAVADZE AVENUE’S REHABILITATION WILL LAST ABOUT 2 MONTHS
Tbilisi City Hall declared that third stage of rehabilitation works on Chavchavadze Avenue (on the section from Kavsadze Street to Kipshidze Street) was started on January 8.
As the Vice-Mayor Irakli Bendeliani said, works will be conducted in round-the-clock mode and will be completed in about 2 months.
REGIONAL HEALTHCARE CENTER IS HANDED OVER TO THE MINISTRY OF IDPS FROM OCCUPIED TERRITORIES, LABOR, HEALTHCARE AND SOCIAL PROTECTION
Georgian government handed over LLC Regional Healthcare Center to the Ministry of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection in management.
In the order, issued on December 26, 2019, the government specified that the whole state-owned stake in the LLC (100%) is given in management for 5 years.
