ATTEMPT ON THE LIFE OF GEORGIAN PRESIDENT EDUARD SHEVARDNADZE

Last night at 11:15 p.m. the cortege of the Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze was pelt from grenade-guns and other kinds of weapons near the governmental residence in Krtsanisi. In the result of this pelt, that was held by the group of 15-20 people during 7-9 minutes, President was not harmed.




THE GEORGIAN PRESIDENT APPRISED THE ATTEMPT ON HIS LIFE AS AN ACT OF THE INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM

After the attempt on his life President gave an interview, in which he mentioned, that his survival was a miracle. He claimed that the evildoers are trying to plant in the country the situation of the controlled chaos.




THE MINISTRY CABINET OF THE SELF-PROCLAIMED REPUBLIC OF ABKHAZIA SUMMARIZED THE LAST YEAR WORK

The Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia Sergei Bagapsh gave a press conference, which was also attended by representative of the territory of republic of Abkhazia of the Association of Republics, Lands and Regions of the North Caucasus and South of Russia Enver Kapba. The activities of the Republic's Ministry Cabinet during the last year were summarized and discussed the future plans.




THE MEETING WAS HELD BETWEEN THE HEADS OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SELF-PROCLAIMED REPUBLIC OF ABKHAZIA AND THE RED CROSS MISSION

The meeting was held between the Chairman of the National Assembly of the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia Sokrat Jinjolia and the Mission Head of the International Red Cross Committee Christopher Beni. During the meeting the questions of expanding the activities of the Mission in Abkhazia were considered.

IN THE YEAR 1998 THE INSURANCE SYSTEM IN THE SPHERE OF HEALTH SERVICE WILL COVER 300,000 PEOPLE

About this informed during today's press conference in the Ministry of the Health Service Director of the State medical insurance company Temur Kalandadze. According to his words, in 1996 this number made 100,000, and 1997 - 200,000 people.




THE REFORMS IN THE SPHERE OF HEALTH SERVICE ARE BEING CONTINUED

According to the statement of the Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze during today’s press-conference in the Ministry of the Health Service, the privatization of the medical departments was started in 70 cities of the country. According to his words, it is assumed, the 50% of the departments that must privatized will be assigned to the labor collectives with the minimal cost, in some cases – free of charge.
