ANNUAL INFLATION IN MARCH MADE UP 5.4%

Sakstat reported that annual inflation in March made up 5.4%. In turn, monthly inflation (i.e. measured in comparison with the previous month, i.e. February) made up negative 0.5% (deflation).




AS OF MARCH 31, NBG’S INTERNATIONAL RESERVES GREW BY 15.3% Y-O-Y

Gross international reserves of National Bank of Georgia (NBG) amounted as of March 31 to $2.83 billion, increasing by 15.3% year-on-year.

“DARIALIHES” COMMENCED OPERATION

DarialiHES, hydroelectric station in Kazbegi municipality (Mtskheta-Mtianeti region), started operation on April 8. Installed capacity of the plant is 108 MW, while average annual output – 510 million KWh.

“SAKSTAT”: IN 2016, NUMBER OF LIVE BIRTH DECLINED BY 4.5% Y-O-Y, WHILE MORTALITY GREW BY 3.4%

Sakstat reported that in 2016, number of live birth made up 56,569 (28,887 boys and 27,682 girls), decreasing by 4.5% year-on-year.

In turn, mortality increased year-on-year by 3.4%, making up 50,771.
