    LEGISLATIVE AMENDMENTS DRAFTED FOR PREVENTION OF ILLEGAL MIGRATION

    Georgian government reported that Justice Ministry presented at the government meeting today a package of legislative amendments, which aim introduction of additional mechanisms for prevention of illegal migration.

    As Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared at the meeting, “According to legislative amendments, will be changed the following regulation – for obtaining the right for permanent residence in Georgia, the foreigner has to live in the country within the last 10 years”.


    NEW STRUCTURE OF THE GOVERNMENT’S ADMINISTRATION TO BECOME KNOWN IN A MONTH

    Chief of administration of Georgian government Shalva Tadumadze declared that reorganization is underway in administration of the government and functional analysis of activity of structural units is conducted at this stage.

    “The new structure will become known in a month and, respectively, you learn what departments will be merged or split”, Tadumadze told journalists.

    ECONOMY MINISTER: CREATION OF CREDIT GUARANTEE MECHANISM IS PLANNED

    “Aiming development of small and medium business and growth increase finances’ availability for the mentioned segment, we wish to start one more new reform”, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili declared.

    The Minister specified that the matter concerns credit guarantee mechanism, noting that this is a guarantee fund in its essence.


    THE GOVERNMENT: GEORGIA WILL CONDUCT REFORMS TOWARD DEVELOPMENT OF ENERGY MARKET AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY

    Georgia will conduct reforms toward development of energy, energy market and energy efficiency, the government declared. The government is going to sign respective declaration on intentions with German Development Bank (KfW) and French Development Agency (AFD).


    PRIME MINISTER: LARGEST INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS ESTIMATE OUR REFORMS VERY POSITIVELY

    “Largest international financial institutions assess the reforms planned or already carried out by us very positively”, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared.

    “Both Asian Development Bank and EBRD plan to increase portfolio and financing of private sector in Georgia”, the Premier said at the government meeting today.


    IFC APPOINTED NEW DIRECTOR FOR EUROPE AND CENTRAL ASIA

    International Finance Corporation (IFC, member of the World Bank Group) declared about appointment of Wiebke Schloemer as new director for Europe and Central Asia. Since May 1, Schloemer has replaced on this post Tomasz Telma.


    GEORGIA TO SIGN FRAME AGREEMENT WITH NIB

    Work on frame agreement with Nordic Investment Bank (NIB, financial institution of the North Europe) is already underway and the agreement will be signed in near future, Georgian Finance Ministry declared. The Ministry noted that signing of the agreement will give start to cooperation with NIB.


    RESEARCHES OF EXPEDIENCY OF FREE TRADE BETWEEN GEORGIA AND ISRAEL AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF INVESTMENT COMMUNICATIONS TO BE CONDUCTED

    Declaration, envisaging start of research on expediency of conclusion of free trade agreement between Georgia and Israel, was signed today in Tbilisi. As Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported, research will be conducted also of expediency of further development of investment relations between two countries.


    WITH ASSISTANCE OF WB, PROJECT OF WATER SUPPLY TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN 5 VILLAGES OF GARDABANI MUNICIPALITY

    With assistance of the World Bank (WB), project of water supply will be implemented in 5 villages of Gardabani municipality (Kvemo Kartli region), the government declared.

    According to the government, the project costs 17.6 million lari.


    WITHIN “TAKE FILM IN GEORGIA”, SHOOTINGS OF GEORGIAN-INDIAN TV SERIES WILL BEGIN

    Within “Take Film in Georgia” (component of “Produce in Georgia” state program) shootings of one more TV series will begin, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reports. The Georgian production company Film Production will work on Georgian-Indian TV series “Inside Edge”.

    PLANT OF COMPOSITE AVIATION PARTS OPENED IN TBILISI

    Today, official opening of plant for production of composite parts of planes was held in Tbilisi. The enterprise is the joint project of Israeli company Elbit Systems and Georgian Partnership Fund.
