IN Q1, VOLUME OF FDI DECREASED BY 6.3% Y-O-Y
Sakstat released estimation for the 1st quarter, saying that foreign direct investments (FDI), made in Georgia for the reporting period, totaled to $281.1 million. If compared with preliminary indicator for the same period of 2018, the volume has decreased by 6.3%.
IN Q1, PUBLIC, PERSONAL AND SOCIAL SERVICE ACCOUNTED FOR LARGEST FDI
Sakstat released estimation for the 1st quarter, saying that largest volume of foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia were made in the reporting period in sector of public, personal and social service – $139.8 million, or 49.7% of total volume. If compared with the same period of 2018, the volume has increased 12.3 times.
IN Q1, IRELAND BECAME THE LEADER IN TERMS OF FDI IN GEORGIA
Sakstat released estimation for the 1st quarter, saying that in total volume of foreign direct investments (FDI), made in Georgia for the reporting period ($281.1 million), 47.4% accounted for Ireland. Volume of investments from this country amounted to $133.2 million (no investments are fixed for the same period of previous year).
IN 2018, GINI COEFFICIENT, CALCULATED BY CUMULATIVE INCOME, MADE UP 0.39, AGAINST OF 0.41 IN 2017
Sakstat reported that Georgia’s Gini coefficient, calculated according to total income (cumulative monetary and non-monetary income), made up 0.39 in 2018, against of 0.41 in 2017.
Gini coefficient, calculated according to total money only (monetary income and transfers, other money), made up 0.42 (against of 0.45 a year ago).
IN 2018, SHARE OF POPULATION BELOW ABSOLUTE POVERTY LINE MADE UP 20.1%, AGAINST OF 21.9% IN 2017
Sakstat reported that share of Georgian population, which was below absolute poverty line in 2018, made up 20.1% (against of 21.9% in 2017).
In urban areas of the country, this share made up 18% (against of 18.6%), while in rural areas – 23.1% (against of 26.6%).
THE WB APPOINTED NEW REGIONAL DIRECTOR IN SOUTH CAUCASUS
Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that new regional director of the World Bank (WB) in the South Caucasus became Sebastian Molineus. He succeeded Mercy Tembon, who held this post since 2015.
INVENTORY OF STATE-OWNED FORESTS TO BE CONDUCTED IN LAGODEKHI
Inventory of the state forest fund will begin on territory of Lagodekhi municipality (Kakheti region), Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared.
Field works will be conducted on the territory of 21,116 ha, providing basis for development of 10-year management plan, the Ministry said, noting that forest inventory was not conducted in Lagodekhi since 1993.
