AS OF JULY 1, CREDITING OF NATIONAL ECONOMY INCREASED BY 17.2% Y-O-Y
National Bank of Georgia reported that as of July 1, Georgian banks issued credits (in both national and foreign currency) of 9.81 billion lari to various spheres of national economy. The volume of crediting has increased by 3% quarter-on-quarter and by 17.2% – year-on-year.
NEXT AMENDMENTS TO “PRODUCE IN GEORGIA” STATE PROGRAM ARE APPROVED
According to yet another pack of amendments to “Produce in Georgia” state program, not only those entities are eligible to take part in 2018 in a grant competition within a component of micro and small business, which did not receive financing yet, but also those, which already used the assistance. The government approved the amendments at the meeting on August 9.
DEPUTY MINISTER OF ECONOMY: LARI IS CHARACTERIZED BY STRENGTHENING TENDENCY AGAINST CURRENCIES OF MAJOR TRADE PARTNER COUNTRIES
Ekaterina Mikabadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, pointed that “lari is characterized by tendency of strengthening against currencies of major trade partner countries”.
Mikabadze indicated that “nominal effective exchange rate, which shows condition of national currency against [currencies of] trade partner countries, is strengthened as of August 10 by 8.1% year-on-year”.
“GALT&TAGGART”: RED SEMI-SWEET WINE IS GEORGIA’S MOST POPULAR CATEGORY OF EXPORT
Galt&Taggart, investment company of Sakartvelos Banki (Bank of Georgia), declared that Georgia’s most popular category of export is red semi-sweet wine. In 2017, this category accounted for 64% in total export of appellation wines (23.7 million bottles), the company reported, referring to data of National Wine Agency.
EDUCATIONAL GRANTS FOR BACHELOR AND MAGISTER PROGRAMS APPROVED FOR 2018-2019 ACADEMIC YEAR
At the meeting on August 9, Georgian government approved educational grants for bachelor and magister programs for 2018-2019 academic year.
In particular, 12.72 million lari are allocated as program financing for students, while 12.6 million lari – as the state educational grant.
TBILISI CITY HALL DEMANDS TO START CERTIFICATION OF ARCHITECTS IN 2019
Vice-mayor of Tbilisi Irakli Khmaladze declared that new legislation on spatial arrangement envisages certification of architects since July 2020, but Tbilisi City Hall puts forward an initiative to start this certification in Tbilisi already after January 1, 2019.
The initiative was considered on August 9 at the meeting of scientific and consulting panel for spatial planning, architectural and construction issues, created by the Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy.
CONSTRUCTION OF LANDFILL IN TERJOLA HAS TO BE FINISHED BY OCTOBER 2019
Construction of landfill for household waste in Terjola municipality (Imereti region) has to be finished by October 2019, Agency for Technical and Construction Supervision said. The Agency issued the construction permit for the project.
