    GEORGIA AND ARMENIA DISCUSSED FURTHER DEEPENING OF TRADE AND ECONOMIC RELATIONS

    Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze paid an official visit to Armenia, where he met his Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan and Armenian President Armen Sargsyan.

    At the meeting in enlarged format, the parties discussed potential of further deepening of trade and economic relations between Georgia and Armenia, considered issues of cooperation in spheres of tourism and power, press service of Georgian Premier reported.

    IN Q2, FDI IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 9.4% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia totaled in the 2nd quarter to $389.2 million, increasing by 9.4% year-on-year.

    However, total FDI for 6 months of this year amount to $676.2 million, decreasing by 9.8% year-on-year.


    IN Q2, THREE SECTORS ACCOUNTED FOR 64.2% OF TOTAL FDI IN GEORGIA

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which three largest sectors of Georgian economy accounted in total foreign direct investments (FDI), made in Georgia in the 2nd quarter ($389.2 million), for combined 64.1%.

    In particular, FDI in energy sector amounted to $108.8 million (year-on-year growth – 7.5 times), i.e. 28% of total volume.


    IN Q2, AZERBAIJAN WAS IN THE LEAD IN TERMS OF FDI IN GEORGIA

    Sakstat released estimation, according to which Azerbaijan accounted for 20.7% of total foreign direct investments (FDI), made in Georgia in the 2nd quarter ($389.2 million). FDI from this country amounted to $80.5 million, decreasing year-on-year by 34.3%.


    DEPUTY ECONOMY MINISTER: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT INVESTMENT VOLUME IN REAL SECTOR OF ECONOMY GREW

    “It is important that volume of investment in real sector of economy has increased”, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Ekaterina Mikabadze declared, while commenting today on foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia for the 2nd quarter of the year. As she said, investments in real sector amounted to – $184.6 million, increasing by 56.8% year-on-year.


    IN 2019, NEW CUSTOMS LEGISLATION IS PLANNED TO ENACT IN GEORGIA

    Drafting of new Customs Code is completed and since 2019, Georgia will have European legislation in the customs sphere, Georgian Finance Ministry declared.

    Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani acquainted representatives of the business sector with novelties of the draft at the meeting, held in Poti zone of economic registration today.


    NEW BUILDINGS HAVE TO MEET MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY SINCE 2020

    Draft bill “On Energy Efficiency of Buildings” provides that new buildings will have to meet minimal standards of energy efficiency since 2020, the Parliament pointed. The bill, which results from the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, will enter in force on June 30, 2019.


    MOVEMENT OF VEHICLES WITH OVERALL PARAMETERS, EXCEEDING SET LIMITS, WILL BE FORBIDDEN IN GEORGIA

    Draft amendments to law “On Motor Roads” envisages prohibition of movement of vehicles, which overall parameters and/or factual mass exceed the limits, set in Georgia. Author of the amendments is Agency of Land Transport.


    PART IN EUROPEAN ECOTOURISM CONFERENCE IN GEORGIA IS TAKEN BY REPRESENTATIVES OF OVER 20 COUNTRIES

    In Georgia, the 5th European international conference on ecotourism is held, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

    As the Ministry noted, ecotourism experts from more than 20 countries will share their experience during the 3-day conference.

    “CLEARSTREAM BANKING” ADMITTED GEORGIAN CORPORATE DEBT SECURITIES IN OWN SYSTEM

    The Georgian corporate debt securities are admitted in system of international central securities depositary (ICSD) Clearstream Banking SA, Sakartvelos Banks (Bank of Georgia) reported. The matter concerns securities of such companies as m2 Real Estate, Georgian Leasing Company, Nikora, SilkNet and microfinancial organization Crystal.
