    DEPUTY ASSISTANT TO THE US SECRETARY OF STATE: THE US CONTINUE SUPPORT OF GEORGIA

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met today in Tbilisi with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Bridget Brink.

    According to administration of Georgian government, Brink declared that the US positively estimate the reforms, which are carried out in Georgia, and continue support of Georgia in spheres of democratic development, economy, defense and security.

    LAW “ON STATE PENSION” IS PLANNED TO AMEND

    The Parliament declared that the government initiated draft amendments to the law “On State Pension”. By decision of the Parliament’s bureau, the document will be considered in the 1st hearing at plenary sessions on September 20-22.


    THE PREMIER AND DIRECTOR OF IMF DEPARTMENT DISCUSSED CURRENT REFORMS IN GEORGIA

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met today in Tbilisi with director of IMF department of Middle East and Central Asia Jihad Azour.

    Main subjects of the meeting were current reforms in Georgia, macroeconomic indicators of the country and new program of IMF, administration of Georgian government reported.


    SHARING OF INNOVATIVE METHODS TO FARMERS DISCUSSED WITHIN ENPARD

    Representation of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported that the 14th meeting of partners of the European Neighborhood Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) was held.

    At that meeting, attache of the EU representation, program manager Alvaro Ortega reported about course of ENPARD II, and spoke about negotiations on ENPARD III.


    CHAIRMAN OF NATIONAL WINE AGENCY: RTVELI IN KAKHETI ENTERED ACTIVE PHASE

    Chairman of National Wine Agency and head of rtveli (vintage) coordinating committee Giorgi Samanishvili declared that “daily indicator of grapes processing reached 2,600 t, indicating that rtveli has entered an active phase”.

    In Kakheti region, 18,600 t of grapes processed as of September 11.


    AS OF JUNE 30, NET PROFIT OF INSURANCE COMPANIES DECREASED BY 80.4% Y-O-Y

    State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that as of June 30, net profit of insurance companies amounted to 2.43 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has decreased by 80.4%.


    AS OF JUNE 30, 81.39% OF TOTAL PREMIUM ATTRACTED IN 3 TYPES OF INSURANCE

    State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that as of June 30, insurance companies attracted premium (direct insurance) of 247.38 million lari, increasing the volume by 7.6% year-on-year.

    Out of total, 81.39% was share of 3 types of insurance: medical (health) insurance, insurance of land transport (except railway) and property insurance.


    PARTNERSHIP FUND AND SILK ROAD INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND SIGNED MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION

    Georgian Partnership Fund declared that within the Silk Road Business Summit of 2017, a memorandum was signed with Silk Road International Development Fund of China.

    The memorandum envisages future cooperation and launch of negotiations on creation of joint fund, the Partnership Fund reported.

    AS OF JUNE 30, REIMBURSED INSURANCE LOSS INCREASED BY 17% Y-O-Y

    State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that loss (net), reimbursed as of June 30 by insurance companies, totaled to 106.13 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2016, the volume has increased by 17%.

    AGRICULTURE MINISTRY: LEADING EXPERTS FROM 7 COUNTRIES CONFIRMED THAT GEORGIA IS HOMELAND OF WINE

    Experts from 7 countries confirm after 3-year research that homeland of wine is Georgia, Georgian Agriculture Ministry declared.

    As the Ministry said, the project was led by Patrick McGovern, Scientific Director of the Biomolecular Archaeology Project for Cuisine, Fermented Beverages and Health at the University of Pennsylvania Museum in Philadelphia.
