    GEORGIAN PREMIER DISCUSSED PROCESS OF EURO-ATLANTIC INTEGRATION WITH PRESIDENT OF NATO PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY

    Today, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia met in Tbilisi with President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) Madeleine Moon and discussed with her issues of cooperation, press service of Georgian government reported.

    The press service noted that members of NATO PA delegation became interested also in ongoing reforms in Georgia, including in spheres of security, social protection and economy.


    IN GLOBAL ECONOMIC FREEDOM RATING, GEORGIA IS ON THE 12TH POSITION AMONG 162 COUNTRIES

    Georgian government declared that in Frazer Institute’s “Economic Freedom of the World” report for 2019, Georgia has improved its ranking by 1 step and occupies now the 12th position among 162 countries. The country’s scoring was also improved, making up 7.94 points, the government noted.


    DISGRACED BUSINESSMAN KHAZARADZE FOUNDED PUBLIC ORGANIZATION

    Mamuka Khazaradze, founder of Georgia’s largest TBC Bank, has founded public organization Lelo, which presentation was held today in Anaklia on the Black Sea coast, in 4 km from Abkhazia’s administrative border.

    To remind, Khazaradze-led TBC Holding builds deep-water port in Anaklia.

    “TBC RESEARCH” FORECASTS FDI REDUCTION BY 30% THIS YEAR

    TBC Research forecasts that foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia will reduce this year by about 30%. According to previous forecast (July), the company supposed FDI reduction at the level of 20%.


    “GEORGIAN AIRPORTS ASSOCIATION”: INSTEAD OF EXPECTED GROWTH BY 14%, PASSENGER TRAFFIC IN GEORGIAN AIRPORTS DECREASED IN AUGUST BY 11%

    In August, all 5 airports of Georgia served 583,104 passengers that is by 11% less in comparison with the same period of previous year, state-owned LLC Georgian Airports Association reported.

    At that, forecast, based on dynamics of the first half of the year, indicated in August growth of 14%, the Association said.


    ELECTRICITY IMPORT IS PLANNED TO RELEASE FROM TARIFF REGULATION

    Georgian Parliament considers draft amendments to law "On Power Industry and Natural Gas", which envisage release of electricity import from tariff regulation. The draft was submitted by the government as legislative initiative.


    IMF MISSION HELD MEETINGS IN FINANCE AND ECONOMY MINISTRIES

    Today, the IMF mission, led by Mercedes Vera-Martin, held meetings in Georgia’s Finance Ministry and Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

    According to the Finance Ministry, the meeting scoped discussion of economic situation in Georgia, course of implementation of the IMF program (Extended Fund Facility, EFF), planned reforms and major fiscal indicators of 2020.


    MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND AGRICULTURE: POSSIBILITY OF DEEPENING COOPERATION WITH CNFA IS CONSIDERED

    Today, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili met in Tbilisi with president of Washington-based non-profit international development organization “Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture” (CNFA) Sylvain Roy. The parties discussed plans of future cooperation.
