    GEORGIA AND AZERBAIJAN DISCUSSED DEEPENING OF COOPERATION

    Issues of further development of cooperation were considered within the visit of Georgian delegation, headed by Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, to Azerbaijan on March 12. These included further deepening of economic cooperation and a possibility of holding a meeting of the intergovernmental economic commission of two countries, administration of Georgian government reported.


    SPEAKER: CONSULTATIONS ON NEW MODEL OF PARTIES’ FINANCING WILL START IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS

    Chairman of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze declared that consultations on new model of financing of political parties will start in the next few days. First of all, consultations will be held with opposition parties, represented in the Parliament, he noted.


    ECONOMY MINISTER: GEORGIA IS THE LEAST CORRUPTED COUNTRY IN THE REGION OF EASTERN EUROPE AND CENTRAL ASIA

    Georgia is the least corrupted country in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili declared.

    The Minister said this, while speaking in Tbilisi at the seminar on introduction of practice of business ethics and ensuring compliance with laws in the region.

    HEAD OF THE PARLIAMENT’S COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC POLICY: DRAFT BILL ON PENSION REFORM CONTAINS CERTAIN RISK

    Roman Kakulia, chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Branch Economy and Economic Policy, declared that draft bill on pension reform “contains certain risk”. The risk in the context of this draft bill is the investment policy, he specified.


    THE PREMIER: THE GOVERNMENT OF GEORGIA APPRECIATES SUPPORT OF ADB IN THE COURSE OF REFORMS

    Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili declared that the government of Georgia welcomes positive dynamics of development of cooperation with Asian Development Bank (ADB).

    The Premier declared this at the meeting with ADB country director Yesim Elhan-Kayalar today and noted that the government appreciates support of ADB in the course of reforms.

    YOUNG LAWYERS ASSOCIATION: NATIONAL AGENCY OF STATE PROPERTY MUST CANCEL CONTRACT WITH “INTERNATIONAL EVENTS”

    Georgia Young Lawyers Association urged National Agency of State Property to cancel unilaterally the contract with International Events because of debt of the latter. The company got Tbilisi Philharmonic Hall in 49-year lease.


    TBILISI CITY HALL BREAKS OFF CONTRACT WITH “CT PARK” SINCE APRIL

    Since April 10, the City Hall of Tbilisi breaks off the contract with CT Park (parking service in Tbilisi), Mayor Kakha Kaladze declared. “Despite numerous warnings from our party, the company does not fulfill the obligations, assigned to it”, he said.


    “SILKNET” GOT PRELIMINARY CONSENT ON ACQUISITION OF “GEOCELL”

    At the meeting today, National Communication Commission gave preliminary consent to JSC SilkNet on acquisition of 100% in mobile operator LLC Geocell. Administrative proceeding on the subject was launched on February 6.


    CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: GLOBAL INTERNET PROVIDERS FROM THE TOP TEN WISH TO ENTER GEORGIAN MARKET

    Kakha Bekauri, chairman of National Communication Commission, declared that companies from the top ten of global Internet providers wish to enter Georgian market. It will raise the competition and will lower the prices, he assured.


    “GWP” TO BUILD NEW SYSTEM OF WATER SUPPLY IN BETANIA AND KVESETI

    In Betania and Kveseti (Tbilisi district Mtatsminda), the new system of water supply having length of 30 km will be built, GWP (Tbilisi company of water supply and sewerage) declared.

    According to GWP, investments in the project will total to 4.5 million lari.

    “IPM”: GEORGIANS CONSIDER GERMANY AND THE US AS MOST ATTRACTIVE FOREIGN COUNTRIES FOR ACCOMMODATION

    The survey, conducted by Institute for Polling and Marketing (IPM), show that every 4th Georgian would wish to live in other country (the survey involved 1,200 respondents).

    The most attractive in terms of accommodation foreign countries for Georgians are Germany and the US, the company reported.
