    FINANCE MINISTER HAS 2 NEW DEPUTIES

    Ekaterina Guntsadze and Mirza Gelashvili were appointed Deputy Finance Ministers by the order of Georgia’s Finance Minister dated September 9.

    Guntsadze is specialist in public finance management.


    MARITIME TRANSPORT AGENCY: BY RESULTS OF AUDIT WITHIN INTERNATIONAL PORT SECURITY PROGRAM, GEORGIA RECEIVED BEST RATING AGAIN

    By results of audit within the framework of the US government’s International Port Security Program, Georgia received best rating again, reported Georgian Maritime Transport Agency.

    The Agency said that the audit estimates also implementation by the state of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code).

    6-MONTH PLAN OF BUDGET EXPENDITURES ON ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IS EXECUTED BY 101.1%

    Georgian State Treasury reported that the country’s budget envisaged allocation of 1.1 billion lari for economic activity in 6 months. However, factual expenses made up 1.12 billion lari, or 101.1% of the planned showing.


    GEORGIAN PREMIER: UP TO 10M LARI WILL BE ALLOCATED FOR COMPLETION OF REHABILITATION OF ABASTUMANI OBSERVATORY

    Georgian government will additionally allocate up to 10 million lari to complete rehabilitation of Abastumani observatory, declared Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili after visiting the facility on September 12.

    Irakli Karseladze, Georgian Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, said that after the Ministry receives the corresponding project, main telescope and digital museum of the observatory will be rehabilitated.

    THIS YEAR, SHARE OF PC OWNER HOUSEHOLDS HAS INCREASED BY 2 PP

    Sakstat reported that research, conducted this year, showed that 63.8% of Georgian households have a PC. If compared with 2020, their share has increased by 2 percentage points (pp).


    THIS YEAR, SHARE OF INTERNET-CONNECTED HOUSEHOLDS INCREASED BY 2.3 PP

    Sakstat reported that research, conducted this year, showed that 86.1% of Georgian households are connected to internet. If compared with 2020, their share has increased by 2.3 percentage points (pp).


    GEORGIANS USE INTERNET MAINLY FOR ACTIVITY IN SOCIAL NETWORKS AND COMMUNICATION

    Sakstat reported that among Georgian of 15 years and above, who have used internet over the past 3 months, main purpose of this usage was activity in social networks – 95.3% and audio/video communication – 94.7%.

    Internet was used also for reading online news, newspapers, magazines – 54.3%, search of information on health – 50.7%, emailing – 46.6%.


    STATE FOOD AGENCY REVEALED EXPIRED AND CONTAMINATED PRODUCTS

    On September 11, Georgian National Food Agency reported that large volume of expired, insect-contaminated and unlabeled products (sweets, tea, coffee, honey, spices – 36 names overall) was revealed in Gardabani municipality (Kvemo Kartli region). Owner of the products is LLC Alibaba.
