    “GEORGIAN DREAM” CHAIRMAN: DRAFT LAW “ON TRANSPARENCY OF FOREIGN INFLUENCE” EVEN WITHOUT ENACTMENT HAS BROUGHT MORE RESULTS THAN ITS ENACTMENT COULD BROUGHT

    The draft law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” “even without involvement has brought more results than it could have brought with enactment”, declared Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream, today.

    According to Kobakhidze, “the draft law, the sole purpose of which was to ensure transparency of non-governmental organizations, even without enactment became the most important tool for lustration of real agents”.

    RESEARCH OF ENTERPRISES’ DEMAND FOR SKILLS: OVER THE PAST YEAR, 12% OF VACANCIES ANNOUNCED IN GEORGIA HAVE NOT BEEN FILLED

    According to a study of enterprises’ demand for skills, 115,756 vacancies were announced in Georgia over the past year, 12% of which were not filled.

    The study was conducted by Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development in cooperation with Sakstat.


    AGRICULTURE MINISTER: PROPOSAL WILL BE SUBMITTED TO THE GOVERNMENT REGARDING ZONES FOR PRODUCTION OF AQUACULTURE IN THE BLACK SEA

    Otar Shamugia, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, declared that a proposal regarding appropriate zones for production of aquaculture in the Black Sea will be submitted soon to the Georgian government. This will be followed by licensing-related activities, he noted.


    GEORGIAN PREMIER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR OF “ROTHSCHILD&CO” DISCUSSED ACTION PLAN FOR GEORGIA’S TRANSFORMATION INTO A REGIONAL FINANCIAL HUB

    Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with managing director of Rothschild&Co Ariel Mallard de Rothschild in Tbilisi today.

    According to administration of the Georgian government, the parties considered an action plan for the strategy of Georgia’s transformation into a regional financial hub, the working group has to present.


    IN 2022, VOLUME OF STATE INDIVIDUAL PETTY ASSISTANCE FROM VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF GEORGIA DECREASED 4.9 TIMES

    Georgian National Competition Agency reported that in 2022, various state agencies of Georgia 17 times issued state individual petty assistance, which totaled to 3 million lari. If compared with 2021 (14.74 million lari), the volume has decreased 4.9 times.


    IN MARCH, BATUMI AND TBILISI TO HOST “WEB3 HACKATHON”

    “Web3 Hackathon” will simultaneously started in Tbilisi and Batumi on March 17 and will last for 3 days, Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology reported.

    The Agency said that the hackathon is organized in cooperation with the BNB Chain ecosystem and Symbios.

    IN Q4 OF 2022, NUMBER OF MOBILE SUBSCRIBERS IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 5.2% Y-O-Y, OPERATORS’ REVENUES – BY 29%

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that at the end of the 4th quarter of 2022, there were 5.84 million mobile subscribers (i.e. active SIM cards) in the country. If compared with the same period of 2021, the number has increased by 5.2%.


    IN Q4 OF 2022, REVENUES FROM BROADCASTING TRANSIT IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 8%

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that in the 4th quarter of 2022, revenues of the country’s telecom operators from broadcasting transit amounted to 36 million lari. If compared with the same period of 2021, the volume has increased by 8%.
