    RICHARD MORNINGSTAR AND JAN KALITSKY ARE COMING TO GEORGIA

    The US Ambassador Richard Morningstar, the special advisor of the President and Secretary of State in the issues of Caspian power resources, and Jan Kalitsky, the advisor of the US Department on Commerce and ombudsman in the questions of NIR, will visit Georgia on April 14-19. Jan Kalitsky is coming today, and Richard Morningstar – on April 16.


    THE GEORGIAN POWERS TRY WITH ALL FORCES TO TAKE NEGOTIATIONS ON ABKHAZIA OUT OF DEADLOCK

    THE GEORGIA GREENS IS AGAINST THE CONSTRUCTION OF GAS MAIN ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BLACK SEA

    According to the Greens’ leader Giorgi Gachechiladze, his party will protest against the realization of the project on constructing this gas main, which will go from Russia to Turkey. According to him, the gas main will be on the bottom ofthe Black Sea, and this threatens with global disturbance of the ecological balance.

    THE TERMS ON PRIVATIZING GENERATION OBJECTS ARE STILL SPECIFIED

    As the Deputy State Property Management Minister David Gelashvili declared during today’s press conference, it’s planned to conduct preliminary consultations with potential investors and agree with them the privatization’s conditions, the questions of indebtedness and tariffs.

    On some power objects, such as ZAHES and OrtachalHES, the State Property Management Ministry will have to regulate several legal issues.


    THE GEORGIAN FINANCE MINISTRY IS BECOMING THE COORDINATOR OF FISCAL SPHERE

    According to the President’s Enactment, the rights of the Finance Ministry were expanded in connection to the extraordinary situation in the Georgian financial-budget system, and the necessity of guaranteeing integrated fiscal politics. The Finance Ministry was ordered to guarantee the formation of single informational base, on the basis of the analyses of which will be brought out the reserves of the country’s economics, specific measures on their implementation.

    TODAY IN GEORGIA IS CELEBRATED THE DAY OF MOTHER TONGUE

    On this date 21 years ago, the republic’s population defended the paragraph on the state status of the Georgian language in the Georgian SSR’s Constitution, which became the first national victory. Demands of the students were supported by the republic’s powers led by Eduard Shevardnadze, who then headed the Georgian Communist Party’s Central Committee.


    ON THE TURKISH TERRITORY THE BUS WITH THE GEORGIAN PASSENGERS CAUGHT FIRE

    Yesterday in 30 km from the town Trabson the bus, with 28 Georgian labor union’s workers, caught fire. They participated in the labor union’s seminar and were present at the labor union’s convention of the Turkish metallurgists as honorary guests.
