    GEORGIA AND TURKEY PLAN TO ADD TRADE WITH SERVICES TO THE FREE TRADE AGREEMENT

    Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that within the framework of the 12th ministerial of the World Trade Organization (WTO), held on June 12-15 in Geneva, Gennady Arveladze, Georgia’s Deputy Economy Minister, met with Mustafa Tuzcu, Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey.

    At the meeting, the parties agreed to accomplish soon negotiations on adding trade with services to the Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and Turkey, Georgian Economy Ministry reported.


    AUDITOR GENERAL: INDICATOR OF CONSOLIDATED BUDGET’S COVERAGE BY THE STATE AUDIT SERVICE INCREASED TO 90% IN MONETARY TERMS

    Georgia’s Auditor General Irakli Mekvabishvili reported that in 2018-2021, the State Audit Service has conducted 269 audits, including 63 financial audits, 152 compliance audits and 54 efficiency audits.

    The indicator of the consolidated budget’s coverage in monetary terms increased from 81% in 2017 to 90%, Mekvabishvili declared, while presenting report for 2021 at the meeting of the Parliament’s Fiscal Committee today.

    IN Q1, MONTHLY AVERAGE NUMBER OF DOMESTIC VISITORS INCREASED IN GEORGIA BY 13.3% Y-O-Y, THEIR MONTHLY AVERAGE EXPENSES – BY 14%

    Sakstat reported that in the 1st quarter, monthly average number of Georgian local visitors aged 15 years and above made up 1.24 million. If compared with the same period of 2021, the number has increased by 13.3%.


    IN 2021, STATE BUDGET’S REVENUES FROM COMMUNICATIONS SECTOR INCREASED BY 12%

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that in 2021, Georgian state budget’s revenues from the communications sector totaled to 367.37 million lari. If compared with 2020, the volume has increased by 12%.


    IN 2021, CAPITAL INVESTMENTS IN GEORGIAN COMMUNICATIONS INCREASED BY 53%

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that in 2021, capital investments in the country’s sector of electronic communications totaled to 290.5 million lari. If compared with 2020, the volume has increased by 53%, the Commission said.

    IN 2021, “MAGTICOM” ACCOUNTED FOR 60% OF CAPITAL INVESTMENTS IN MOBILE SERVICES, WHILE “SILKNET” – FOR 45% IN FIXED SERVICES

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that 3 companies accounted for 94% of capital investments, made in the country’s electronic communications sector in 2021 (against of 97% in 2020).

    In particular, MagtiCom accounted for 60% of capital investments in the mobile services, while SilkNet accounted for 45% of capital investments in the fixed services, the Commission said.


    IN 2021, REVENUES FROM MULTIPLEX SERVICES INCREASED IN GEORGIA BY 6.1%

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that there were 28 multiplex operators in 2021 in Georgia (by 3 ones more, if compared with 2020). However, only 12 operators received commercial income from multiplex services (compared to 11 in 2020), the Commission noted.


    COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: 3 COMPANIES JOINED GEORGIAN MVNO ASSOCIATION

    Georgian National Communication Commission reported that in 2021, association of mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) was established in Georgia. At this stage, the association unites 3 companies, the Commission said.
