    ECONOMY MINISTER: LARGE-SCALE QUARANTINE, LARGE-SCALE BRANCH RESTRICTIONS ARE NOT PLANNED

    Large-scale quarantine, large-scale branch restrictions are not planned despite growth of COVID-19 cases in the country, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava assured.

    While declaring this at the news briefing today, the Minister indicated that the country has passed to an adaptation stage, and main focus will be placed on pointed localization.


    TBILISI TO HOST MEETING OF UNWTO EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

    Mariam Kvrivishvili, head of Georgian National Tourism Administration, declared today that the 11th meeting of executive council of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will take place in Tbilisi on September 16-17.

    Kvrivishvili stressed that this event is always held in Spain, and this is an exception, when is will be held outside Spain.


    GEORGIA IMPROVED ITS POSITION IN ECONOMIC FREEDOM RATING BY 1 STEP

    In its “Economic Freedom of the World” report for 2020 (based on data of 2018), Fraser Institute placed Georgia with scoring of 8.18 on the 8th position among 162 countries. In the previous report (2018), Georgia occupied the 9th position with score of 8.14.

    AS OF 6 MONTHS, RATIO OF BUDGET DEFICIT TO GDP MADE UP 2.07%

    Georgian government reported that deficit of the state budget amounted for 6 months of this year to 1.04 billion lari. In its report on execution of the state budget-2020, the government pointed that this volume corresponds to 2.07% of the country’s GDP.


    IN 6 MONTHS, OBLIGATIONS OF THE STATE BUDGET INCREASED BY 2.79B LARI

    Report on 6-month execution of the state budget-2020, released by Georgian government, indicates that obligations of the budget have increased during the reporting period by up to 2.79 billion lari.

    Out of total growth, 1.2 billion lari, or 43%, is share of net growth due to emission of domestic securities.


    WITHIN SUPPORT TO FILM INDUSTRY, 20% OF QUALIFIED EXPENSES WERE REFUNDED TO 2 COMPANIES THIS YEAR

    Georgian government reported that within “Produce in Georgia” state program’s component on support to the film industry, 20% of total limited qualified costs in Georgia were refunded in 6 months of this year to 2 companies. In its report on execution of the state budget-2020, the government said that this volume totals to 3.25 million lari.


    IN GEORGIA, STUDY OF TIME USE TO BE CONDUCTED

    In Georgia, study of use of time will be conducted for the first time, Sakstat reported. The study will be held among 3,120 households, selected countrywide by the principle of random sampling.

    COMPETITION AGENCY RECOGNIZED AS INADMISSIBLE COMPLAINT OF “SKODA”

    Georgian Competition Agency recognized complaints of Czech Skoda Transportation and Skoda Vagonka as inadmissible, “because of absence of legal grounds, provided by law”.

    These companies submitted the complaint against Tbilisi municipal enterprise Tbilisi Transport Company in connection with possible violation of the law “On Competition”, the Agency reported.
