MAIN PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE: INVESTIGATIVE ACTIONS ON THE AUDIO RECORDING WERE STARTED BEFORE IT WAS BROADCASTED BY ONE OF MASS MEDIA
In connection to audio recordings (which features former high-ranking officer of Main Prosecutor’s Office Mirza Subeliani), broadcasted on October 14 by Rustavi-2 TV company, Georgian Main Prosecutor’s Office released the statement today, where it said that “investigative actions on the audio recording were started on October 12, 2018, before the recording was broadcasted by one of mass media”.
The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that investigation was launched after application of one of the officers of Special Penitentiary Service, who stated that he was forced on October 12 to spread the hidden record of the meeting with participation of Subeliani under pressure of blackmail, in particular, he was allegedly threatened with publication of recordings of his private life.
IN SEPTEMBER, LIVING WAGE IN GEORGIA INCREASED BY 0.8% Y-O-Y
Sakstat reported that in September, living wage for average consumer amounted to 150.7 lari.
If compared with the same period of 2017 (149.5 lari), this indicator has increased by 0.8%.
IN JANUARY-SEPTEMBER, GEORGIA’S EXPORT INCREASED BY 25.7% Y-O-Y, IMPORT – BY 19.1%
Sakstat released estimation, according to which Georgia’s foreign commodity trade turnover (without unorganized trade) amounted for January-September to $9.12 billion, increasing by 20.8% year-on-year.
At that, the country’s export made up $2.45 billion (growth – 25.7%), while import – $6.68 billion (growth – 19.1%).
IN 2017, ASSETS OF NON-FINANCIAL CORPORATIONS INCREASED BY 9.8%
Sakstat released results of the research, according to which assets of Georgian non-financial corporations amounted at the end of 2017 to 56.3 billion lari, increasing by 9.8% year-on-year. Out of total volume, 8.1% was expressed in foreign currency (against of 8% in 2016).
IN 2017, INCOME OF 2,379 ENTITIES, ENGAGED IN FINANCIAL SERVICES, TOTALED TO 4.46B LARI
Sakstat reported that in 2017, there were 2,379 entities in Georgia, engaged in financial services’ provision, which income for the reporting year totaled to 4.46 billion lari. If compared with 2016, the number of such entities has decreased by 5 units, while total income increased by 0.7%.
GEORGIA AND CHINA TO COOPERATE IN BANKING SUPERVISION
National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that it hosted today delegation of China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission.
Within the visit, NBG and Chinese Commission signed a memorandum of cooperation.
MINISTRY OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: MTSKHETA-MTIANETI REGION HOSTS BUSINESS DELEGATION OF LATVIA
Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported that in economic forum, being held in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of the country, business delegation of Latvia takes part.
According to the Ministry, the delegation is composed of representatives of 11 companies, while up to 80 companies registered for participation in the forum from Georgian side.
DEPUTY MINISTER OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: IN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS, THERE ARE LAGS AND PROBLEMS OF QUALITY
Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Ilia Begiashvili declared that regional fund has financed 770 projects in 2018, which total cost makes up 250 million lari.
However, Begiashvili said, situation in the infrastructure projects “is ambiguous, there are lags, there are problems of quality too”.
