    GEORGIA AND BELARUS DISCUSSED TRADE AND ECONOMIC RELATIONS

    Today, meeting was held in the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusy, who arrived to Georgia with working visit.

    As the Ministry said, the parties discussed key directions of trade and economic cooperation of two countries.


    THE GOVERNMENT APPROVED STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN THE CABINET

    At the meeting today, the government approved draft amendments in law “On Structure, Powers and Operating Procedures of the Government of Georgia”. The approved draft will be submitted for consideration to the Parliament.


    ECONOMY MINISTRY: IN TERMS OF INTERNET SPACE FREEDOM, GEORGIA’S POSITION IS THE BEST IN REGION OF THE CAUCASUS AND CENTRAL ASIA

    Freedom on the Net 2017, published by Freedom House, assesses Georgia in terms of internet space freedom as “free” and having the best position in region of the Caucasus and Central Asia, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.

    Georgia also outstrips such developed countries as France, Italy, Singapore, Hungary, etc., the Ministry pointed.

    REAL GDP GROWTH IN 2016 MADE UP 2.8%

    Sakstat released adjusted data for 2016, according to which real GDP growth in last year made up 2.8%, while deflator increased by 4.2%. According to estimations, real GDP growth in 2016 made up 2.7%, while deflator growth – 4%.


    IN OCTOBER, LIVING WAGE FOR AVERAGE CONSUMER INCREASED BY 8.7% Y-O-Y

    Sakstat reported that living wage for average consumer in October made up 154.1 lari. If compared with the same period of 2016 (141.8 lari), this indicator has increased by 8.7%.


    AS OF SEPTEMBER, YIELD OF 10-YEAR BONDS OF GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT MADE UP 3.1%

    Referring to Bloomberg, National Bank of Georgia reported that as of September, yield of 10-year bonds, placed by Georgian government on London Stock Exchange, made up 3.1%. In January, the rate made up 4.1%, in June – 3.5%.


    NBG: IDEA THAT ONLY TWO LARGEST BANKS TRADE IN “BLOOMBERG” SYSTEM IS WRONG

    National Bank of Georgia (NBG) released a statement, marking that widespread idea that only two largest banks trade in the system of Bloomberg is wrong.

    Instead, NBG pointed that Bloomberg in Georgia is used by 24 organizations, including 16 commercial banks and 4 microfinancial organizations.


    AJARA GOVERNMENT: CITRUSES HARVEST WILL MAKE UP 50,000-55,000 T

    The government of Ajara declared that expected volume of citrus harvest this year makes up 50,000-55,000 t. As the government said, in connection with start of citrus harvesting season, the coordination headquarters opened in the region.
