    EC REPORT: SINCE MARCH 2017, GEORGIAN CITIZENS HAVE MADE MORE THAN 1.15M VISITS TO THE EU

    Since visa-free regime with the EU entered into force in March 2017, Georgian citizens have made more than 1.15 million visits to the EU, says the report of the European Commission on Georgia’s implementation of the association agenda.

    The document indicates that Georgia continues fulfillment of demands for visa liberalization, but high rate of asylum requests from Georgian citizens remains a challenge.


    EC REPORT: GEORGIA’S AGRICULTURE SECTORS TURNED OUT THE MOST RESISTANT TO THE PANDEMIC-CAUSED CRISIS

    15 sectors of Georgia’s agriculture were among the most resistant to the crisis, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, says the European Commission’s report on Georgia’s implementation of agenda of the association with the EU.

    Anti-crisis plan, developed by Georgian government in response to the pandemic, envisaged for agriculture to update the action plan for 2020, as part of agricultural development strategy for 2017-2020, the document notes and indicates that it will be necessary also to update the action plan for 2021-2023, as part of agricultural development strategy for 2021-2027.

    “FITCH” AFFIRMED GEORGIA’S SOVEREIGN RATING AT “BB” LEVEL

    Fitch Ratings declared about affirmation of Georgia’s long-term issuer default rating (in foreign currency) at “BB” level. The outlook is “negative”, however.


    IN 2020, NUMBER OF PENSION AND SOCIAL PACKAGE RECIPIENTS INCREASED IN GEORGIA BY 2.6%

    Sakstat reported that in 2020, there were 958,317 recipients of pension and social package in Georgia. If compared with 2019, the number has increased by 2.6%.


    COMPETITION AGENCY: COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT ON VEHICLE FUEL MARKET HAS IMPROVED

    Georgian National Competition Agency published today an interim report on monitoring vehicle fuel market.

    The report concludes that “Starting from 2013, in terms of imports, as well as wholesale and retail sales of petrol and diesel fuel, number of active economic agents has increased, market concentration index has decreased, which indicate an improved competitive environment”.


    IN 2020, PROFIT OF MICROFINANCE ORGANIZATIONS INCREASED 400 TIMES

    National Bank of Georgia reported that profit of 40 microfinance organizations, operating in the country, totaled in 2020 to 44.9 million lari. If compared with 2019, the volume has increased 400 times.

    “KTW” BONDS ADMITTED TO TRADING SYSTEM OF GEORGIAN STOCK EXCHANGE

    Georgian Stock Exchange reported that bonds of LLC Kakheti Traditional Winemaking (KTW Group) have been admitted to the listing of category B since this month. The matter concerns 10,000 bonds worth $10 million.


    IN 2020, PROFIT OF “RICO EXPRESS” INCREASED BY 15%

    Rico Express reported net profit of 34.3 million lari for 2020. According to financial report of this Georgian microfinance organization, the volume has increased by 15% year-on-year.
