EUCHAM’S REPORT: GEORGIA IMPROVED DOING BUSINESS RATING BY 4 POSITIONS
According to European Chamber’s report “Best European Countries for Business 2017”, Georgia occupies the 20th position among 46 countries.
In 2017, in comparison with 2016, Georgia has improved its rating by 4 positions, while the country’s score has increased from 64.7 to 68.6, Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported.
COST OF LIVING IN APRIL INCREASED BY 5.7% Y-O-Y, IN MAY – BY 7.5%
Sakstat reported that cost of living (living wage) for the average consumer amounted in April to 151.3 lari. If compared with the same month of 2016 (143.2 lari), this indicator has increased by almost 5.7%.
OVER 100 BUSINESSMEN TOOK PART IN HUNGARY-GEORGIA BUSINESS FORUM
Today, Hungary-Georgia business forum was held in Budapest, in which over 100 representatives of companies took part, reported EU-Georgia Business Council (EUGBC, organizer of the event).
As EUGBC said, the participants represented such spheres as tourism, agriculture, transportations and logistics, construction, legal and banking service.
ECONOMY MINISTRY: CENTERS OF DIGITAL RETRAINING WILL BE OPENED IN VARIOUS REGIONS OF GEORGIA
Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development declared that starting from the second half of this year and until 2020, Agency of Innovations and Technologies will open with assistance of the World Bank 8 regional hubs of innovations and 50 centers of innovations within project “Georgia’s National Ecosystem of Innovations”.
At this stage, the Agency and Business and Technology University start training program of digital skills, the Ministry reported.
REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE MINISTRY: REHABILITATION OF ROAD SECTION IN DMANISI WILL BE FINISHED THIS YEAR
Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure reported that Roads Department conducts rehabilitation of 8-km section of Didi Dmanisi – Dmanisi – Gomareti – Bediani road of domestic importance (Kvemo Kartli region). The works have to be finished this year.
INCOME FROM MULTIPLEX SERVICE HAD 7 OPERATORS ONLY
National Communication Commission reported that in December 2016, there were 16 multiplex operators in Georgia. However, commercial income from multiplex service was received by only 7 of them, the Commission said.
“TBC BANK” ATTRACTED 45M LARI FROM “SYMBIOTICS”
TBC Bank Group declared that is subsidiary TBC Bank and Swiss investment company Symbiotics have completed transaction in the amount of 45 million lari ($18.5 million).
As the Group pointed, the transaction was implemented through MSME bond platform of the Swiss company and this “3 year local currency facility will enable TBC Bank to finance micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Georgia”.
IFC PLANS ALLOCATION OF $12M TO “M² REAL ESTATE”
Finance Ministry reported that International Finance Corporation (IFC, member of the World Bank group) plans to lend up to $12 million (or equivalent in euro) to development company m2 Real Estate (member of BGEO Group).
The government took respective information of the Ministry into consideration and assigned the Ministry to present written consent to IFC.
“GEORGIAN FRUIT COMPANY” PLANTED APPLE ORCHARD WITHIN “PLANT THE FUTURE” PROJECT
Agriculture Ministry reported that within “Plant the Future” project, LLC Georgian Fruit Company has planted apple orchard on 10 ha in village Ksovrisi (Mtskheta municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region).
The company applied to the program in 2015 and received state financing of 100,000 lari for procurement of saplings, the Ministry said.
