IN 2021, GEORGIA’S ELECTRICITY GENERATION INCREASED BY 13.6%, CONSUMPTION – BY 13.3%
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that in 2021, 12.43 billion kWh of electricity was generated in Georgia, increasing by 13.6% year-on-year. If compared with 2019 (the last pre-pandemic year), the volume has increased by 7%.
IN 2021, ELECTRICITY IMPORT EXCEEDED EXPORT 5 TIMES
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that in 2021, Georgia’s import of electricity made up 2,006 GWh. If compared with 2020, the volume has increased by 24.6%, the Commission said.
IN 2021, GEORGIA’S DEMAND FOR NATURAL GAS INCREASED BY 0.9%
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that the country’s demand for natural gas totaled to 2.5 billion cubic m in 2021. If compared with 2020, the volume has increased by 0.9%.

On June 14-15, Tbilisi hosted a regional conference “Investments and Alternative Ways of Resolving Disputes in the Energy Sector”.

STATE AUDIT SERVICE: FINANCIAL STATEMENTS OF NATIONAL PROPERTY AGENCY DO NOT REFLECT CONTRIBUTIONS TO VARIOUS ENTERPRISES
Georgian State Audit Service declared that financial statements of the National Property Agency do not reflect property and equity contributions to various enterprises, made by the Agency in 2016-2020.
In its report, the Service specified that the matter concerns contributions totaling to 840 million lari.
LICENSEE COMPANIES PROVIDE WATER SUPPLY TO 67% OF GEORGIA’S POPULATION
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulating Commission reported that in 2021, water supply to 67% of Georgia’s total population (up to 3.73 million peoples) (against of 65.9% in 2020) was provided by licensee companies.
Water to the remained 33% (against of 34.1% a year ago) was supplied by local government structures.
ISRAELI INVESTORS ARRANGED TOURIST INFRASTRUCTURE IN TSALKA CANYON
On June 14, a tourist infrastructure was opened in the Tsalka Canyon (Kvemo Kartli region).
The Tsalka Canyon is the first protected area in the country, where the Israeli company Kass Land has made a private investment, the Georgian government indicated.
SNAIL ENTERPRISE LAUNCHED IN MTSKHETA MUNICIPALITY
Company Timeo has opened a snail processing enterprise in the village of Tsilkani (Mtskheta municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region).
In construction of the enterprise, the company has invested about 7 million lari, reported Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
