    “TI GEORGIA”: MANY NOTORIOUS CRIMES, COMMITTED AFTER ASSUMPTION OF POWER BY “GEORGIAN DREAM”, NOT INVESTIGATED PROPERLY

    TI Georgia, Georgian branch of Transparency International, declared that “many notorious crimes, committed after assumption of power by Georgian Dream, were not investigated properly, or their [investigation] results are unknown to public”.

    “Fast and impartial investigation of cases, attracting acute public interest, is important indicator of performance of law-enforcement agencies”, the organization pointed.

    AGRICULTURE MINISTRY: PROSPECTS OF AGROINSURANCE PROGRAM’S IMPROVEMENT ARE CONSIDERED

    Agriculture Ministry reported about meeting of the Deputy Minister Giorgi Khanishvili with Silvia Paschke, head of financial systems development department for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia at German Bank for Development (KfW).

    As the Ministry, the parties discussed possibilities of financial resources’ mobilization for strengthening of insurance direction in agrosector.


    4-YEAR PROJECT OF “OXFAM” CAME TO THE END

    Yesterday, closure event of Oxfam’s project “Improving Regional Food Security through National Strategies and Small Holder production in the South Caucasus” was held in Tbilisi.

    The 4-year project was implemented in Georgia and Armenia by Oxfam and Bio-Farming Association Elkana with financial support of the EU.


    AJARA GOVERNMENT: PROJECTS ONGOING IN BATUMI NEW BOULEVARD WILL RESULT IN INVESTMENT OF 520M LARI, WHILE ONES ON HEROES AVENUE – 600M LARI

    The government of Ajara declared that projects, being implemented currently in new boulevard of Batumi, will result in investments of about 520 million lari. As a result, the city will have 1,700 new hotel rooms and about 2,600 new jobs, the government specified.


    BATUMI HOSTED DISCUSSION ON DEVELOPMENT OF BLUE ECONOMY IN THE BLACK SEA REGION

    In Batumi, the 4th international conference “The Blue Economy in the Black Sea countries” was held. Besides Georgia, the event attracted such Black Sea countries, as Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.


    DEPUTY ECONOMY MINISTER: GEORGIAN SAILORS BRING ANNUALLY ABOUT 150-180M LARI TO THE BUDGET

    Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Cherkezishvili declared that “Georgian sailors bring annually contribution of about 150-180 million lari to the budget of Georgia”.

    Cherkezishvili declared this on the event, marking beginning of academic year in Batumi State Maritime Academy.

    AS OF JUNE 30, MEDICAL INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 8.5% Y-O-Y

    State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in medical (health) insurance as of June 30, amounted to 123 million lari, increasing by 8.5% year-on-year. This segment accounts for 49.7% of total insurance premium for the period.


    AS OF JUNE 30, LIFE INSURANCE PREMIUM REDUCED BY 21.5% Y-O-Y

    State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in life insurance as of June 30, amounted to 11.23 million lari, decreasing by 21.5% year-on-year. This segment accounts for 4.5% of total insurance premium for the period.


    AS OF JUNE 30, CASUALTY INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 2.5% Y-O-Y

    State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in casualty insurance as of June 30, amounted to 2.36 million lari, increasing by 2.5% year-on-year. This segment accounts for 1% of total insurance premium for the period.


    AS OF JUNE 30, TRAVEL INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASED BY 14.2% Y-O-Y

    State Service for Insurance Supervision reported that premium, attracted in travel insurance as of June 30, amounted to 4.14 million lari, increasing by 14.2% year-on-year. This segment accounts for 1.7% of total insurance premium for the period.


    “LAZETI” IS GOING TO BUY-OUT MINORITY STAKE IN JSC “ZUGDIDI CANNED GOODS”

    LLC Lazeti declared about intention to buy-out minority stake (3.35%) in JSC Zugdidi Canned Goods. Lazeti has right to demand obligatory sale of minority stake, as it owns in Zugdidi Canned Goods remained 96.65%.
